Kubota L2550
I bought an old L2550 and it's just arrived in my yard.
It's cold and rainy and I'm trying to start it (no manual
or instructions with it). I turn the key left and hold it for,
maybe 45 seconds. I then try cranking the engine and
just NOTHING happens at all. I depressed the clutch,
the brake, the clutch AND brake, and I can't get a sound
out of it. Is there some magic setting of switches or
levers that I don't know about? I'd like to move it out
of the weather before the seats get (even) worse than
they are now. It has a front bucket loader and a rear
backhoe attached to it. I'm going crazy!

Thanks in advance for any insights. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hi-Lo Range Lever? I don't know.
Is that the vertical lever to the left that shows
a turtle and a rabbit and an 'N' in between?

(sorry ... there's just no indication of what
anything is on this machine ... just arrows for
fwd and back and then those rabbits and
turtles). /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Not sure if the 2550 is the same. It prolly is. I have a L2500. To start it you must have the High/Low range in Neutral, the PTO disinganged, shove the fuel valve forward (this opens it) I also push in the clutch. When you turn the key left you are heating the glow plugs. Yes the lever on the left should be your high/low range. Or maybe you can call a dealer I am sure they can help.

Thanks so much for the help. I was about to go out and
check if it'll start but it's cold and dark and snowing now.
I'll check it out in the morning; maybe if I can get it going
I'll move some of the snow accumulation around for a
test of my skill (or lack thereof).

I'll let you know how it goes! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

sounds like u have a safety interlock, either tranny( netural) or pto engaged. if it was just fuel, it shoul crank , but u said NO SOUND. so it is not even trying to start.

I'm not sure if anybody asked this, so I will. Is the battery charged and are the cable connections clean?

SUCCESS! finally. (it's embarrassing). Turns out that I
didn't have the clutch FULLY depressed. The seat is all the
way back and won't move forward. I didn't realize at the
time that my left leg is just too short to get the clutch pedal
all the way down. I followed all the suggestions and then
sat on the very edge of the seat and STOMPED the pedal
down and the tractor started right up.

I practiced moving a dirt pile from one place to another and
made a right mess so my next problem is learning how to
use the tractor properly -- it looks a lot easier than it is!

Thanks, everybody, for your help in solving the problem. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey guy, I got a L2550 recently also. Have the loader no backhoe.

nterested in knowing what type/model of backhoe you have on yours. How well does it work.
Thanks don't check , replies to often, but I'm eager to hear from you.

My L2550 runs fine, but will need a new clutch someday.
