2016 Kubota L3901
My new used L3901 was delivered, love the tractor however it is so wet here, especially behind the house where we had a septic installed, I got it stuck the first day trying to get it put away,

I wish it had R1 tires, these R4s have hardly any traction in muddy areas,

I will get more pics when I it dries out! C998BABD-E744-414F-8E8B-22DBFE46BDD0.jpeg17EA3A16-D7E2-465A-9845-A97A430A2785.jpegB24CB0C1-4312-460E-9E11-1515C73C37F2.jpeg1FE6B0D1-02C0-4065-9814-7F816072FA6D.jpeg

Congrats  your bones and muscles will be thanking you in years to come. :)
Yup R4's sure can get greasy real quick, getting stuck just part of owning tractor they say. ;)

Congrats! Looking good!
I have the same model with R1's. Have you considered speaking with your dealer? Can't hurt to ask them to switch them out for you. With no hours on the tractor, they would most likely place on another tractor. The R1's are less expensive but you may have to eat the difference for the switch out. You'll have the tractor awhile so any cost might be worth it, and the dealer should want to keep you happy for future maintenance business and positive word of mouth from you.

Thanks, it actually has 500 hours on it, right now I am waiting for my bonus so I can get the rotary cutter, I have a lot of ground to clear and some paths to start making, I also was moving some dirt yesterday and my son made me stop my back wheels where coming off the ground, one one time my left wheel dug in to soft ground and it felt like it was gonna tip (my property is now wet heavy clay) I need some weight, started pricing weight boxes yesterday, expensive hobby..lol I am supposed to have filled tires, I am sure I do, but still need more weight.

I am also a few weeks away from getting a load of grave, and needing to move that to different parts of property. All this and I am a novice when it comes to tractor operation so have a lot to learn..

Gonna be a great summer :)

That is SUPER dangerous. The front axle is just a pin & the axle will flop side to side. If the rear comes off the ground its balancing on that front pivot. At that point the tractor is going to flop to one side or the other. It will have enough momentum to keep going over by the time it gets to the stops.

The economy Ls are really light for the loader capacity. The back end of my former L3200 was really light with a couple hundred lbs of stuff stacked on the back of my 5' rotary cutter. I actually think the economy Ls are dangerous with a loader if you don't have loaded rears.

I built some 3 put ballast out of a leaky air compressor tank. Really it's not rocket science, just heavy. I never use it though. Impliments are usually about as heavy & have the benefit of being useful for their intended purpose. A rotary cutter is a bit big & gets in the way in tight spaces. But it's long giving you lots of leverage & you can stack a few bags/bales of something heavy on the back.

Any tractor user that has stuff in the FEL needs counterweight in the back. A weight box does one task so buy a boxblade or rear blade for weight and for use or even a tiller. I keep one of them on my L3901 all the time. Many tractors in 16 years and never bought or seriously considered buying a weight box myself. A RatchetRake or Piriniha bar is also a great add for the FEL bucket. The RR is best for leveling/landscaping/yard care and the Piriniha is best for digging and small brush/tree clearing or buy both :).

As much as I love one implement doing two jobs (counter weight being the second). There is something very nice about having 8-900 lbs. up tight close to the back end so you don't have to run it into things... but I would add, make the weight box yourself, no need to buy one. Well, I bought one but it was $50, so I couldn't pass it up!

With even an empty loader and no weight on the back it's easy to get stuck or loose traction. Consider loading the rear tires with fluid and as said always keep something on the 3pt for weight. I made my ballast out of an old 3pt carry all, some scrap iron, a plastic 55gallon barrel and some concrete.

I welded up some extra support on the carry all out of scrap angle and flat iron I had. I would dump all the old brake rotors and other scrap I had around the shop in the barrel.
When I was having some concrete poured I took the clean out / extra little bit and filled up the barrel with it. There are as many ways to make a 3pt counter weight as there are people with ideas on making one. Search this site and the rest of the net for inspiration. Old free weights scrounged at yard sales are a good source of weight that can be added to a box blade to make a pretty good counter weight as well.

Thanks, while I will use a rotary cutter a lot, on many Jobs will be more of a hindrance, I think I will look up ideas on how to make weight boxes, I agree, would like it closer to back tires.

Load the tires. I have mine 1/2 loaded because I also have a backhoe.

The L3901 is a nice tractor, I had one for several years. You already have noticed, they are very light in the rear. For me, even with loaded tires, it was almost unusable unless I had a lot of rear ballast. I pretty much left my chipper or old heavy box scraper on at all times. Again, great little tractor, just be careful.

These L's need a lot of weight in the back. I loaded my tires, AND added 300 lbs of wheel weights, AND still make sure I have a box blade or something on the rear before I do much with the fel. Be very careful, they can be tippy.

Awesome tractor.

Yeah, I debated between R1 (agriculture) and R4 (regular) tires. R4 came with the tractor but after talking to an old farmer he said he's run R1 for 34 years and only had 1 flat. I'm really surprised tractors don't come with R1's on the lot.
Since all of my work with the tractor will be on my land I didn't see any need for R4's.

I bought the Land Pride RCR2660 and glad I did. I really should have gotten the L3901 for a bit more PTO hp but my L3301 will operate it.

I had to wait a week to get my L3901DT since I wanted R1's, the dealer thought he had a set, but didn't. He even said he would give me the R4's for the same price if I wanted the tractor right away. I told him I would wait and I'm glad I did.

I have loaded tires and always have something on the 3PT. I have 8 elevator weights that I cut in half that I will be building a carrier for. That 960 pounds.

I hope the OP has as much luck with his L3901 as I have.
