If the tractor was not capable of doing the job of extra horsepower and holding up, do you think that Kubota would put the size in the line up?

dog - I hear you that the engine's gonna hold up just fine, to me it's just the fact that it produces only a marginal amount of extra practical power to justify the extra fuel use, rpms and up-front expense of buying it that puts it at the bottom of my list. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if Kubota had built the engine "from the ground up" by stroking it to give it additional torque, and not just boosted the fuel injection to get some extra hp that might just give illusory vs. "real" power gains, I'd be of a different mind.

Bottom line: I just can't get past the fact that it has the same torque and displacement as the 4330, but costs quite a bit more. Two thousand dollars or so extra is too much to pay for a set of injectors IMHO.

Well, since my L3010 does most of its work at about 2k RPMs, either larger tractor should work quite well for me.

The virginal L4330 will wear off quickly. I no doubt would be going for the L4630. Your right about the 50 hour service. Of course, my price was no where near $500 for the full fluid/filter changes. The other thing with the few hours on the L4630 is that it is now ready to go full blast.

RaT -- I just came back from the dealer where we dug the L4630 out from the latest snowfall so I could test drive it. It felt about the same as the L4330, which is to say WOW! But it was the first time I've ever driven a tractor without a FEL mounted. The visibility was incredible, and I simply must try mowing the field that way next time! Maybe if I'd removed Clementine's FEL while mowing my wife's apple and pear saplings would still be alive. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

215.6 hours on the clock. The usual dead bugs under the hood (it hasn't been serviced or detailed yet) and exhaust smudge on the pipe. While test driving it around the lot I passed an L5030HSTC and my did that cab look nice! But because of our low breezeway I'd have to create another driveway and another cut thru our stone walls...plus I'd never be able to work on it inside the comfort of the garage, always outside in the elements. Forget the cab.

Now if I could just decide between the BH90 and the Woods 9000 I could finalize things before Tam's pain pills where off and she starts sounding like a Capital One commercial again.

My local dealer uses only the Woods so I asked why. He said for a very similar hoe you don't have to pay nearly as much. I never inquired about the price.

The only way I mow is with the loader off. The L30 series loaders come off so fast, (I'm down to 30 seconds off, minute and a half back on) that it is nothing to put it on/off many times during the day. It does not really matter the mowing task, I find the tractor so much easier to drive and to see with it off. The bounce is lessened as well and I suppose a minor amount of compaction deleted.

I have 600 hours on my L3830 HST after 2.5 years of use. It still looks very good. Some folks ask me if it is brand new. 600 hours is very new, 215 is hardly broken in.

Try the cruise control, it is hands down the easiest I have ever used. On the other hand, I never use it other then a minor amount of differential braking when in tighter areas pulling my box scraper.

I like the shape of the HST pedal, it works very well for me. I like the L M H range on the HST. They are just right.

Finally, have a great Christmas!!!

Are you in the step process of working up in size. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My dealer sells the BH90 for $400 less than the Woods 9000. I've not seen either mounted yet. Well, there was a 9000 mounted, but it was a cab tractor so the hoe was 8" longer than the one I would get. Sure wish I could see them side by side and crawl over them with a tape measure!

If I get the chance I will swing by the dealer and see if he has any Woods 9000 hoes attached to any L 30 series. I have seen them in the past, but never paid much attention to the clearance.

I haven't looked at the specifications for the Woods unit, but I have a BH 90 on an L4330 and if you don't operate it with a little finesse, It will drag the tractor backwards with the root rake on the fel stuck in the ground and the outriggers down.
If the woods unit doesn't have a longer reach, or isn't easier to connect/disconnect, or isn't a lot cheaper, I don't see how you could go wrong with the BH 90.
I did read some about the bent hydraulic cylinders on the BH90, but I (think) as opposed to (Know) that Kubota has addressed that particular problem.
If you're particularly interested in the overhang on the rear, I will measure mine this weekend and post it for ya (the tractor isn't handy right now).

Leroy -- I'd really appreciate that! Up here in VT this time of year, with snow everywhere, it's nearly impossible to find a mounted BH.
