Tractor News New M-59

   / New M-59 #21
Similarly equiped (even adding a cab to the M59 would not change the balance much), the 310 TC is almost twice the price. Granted the 310 is bigger in all areas, it is not twice as big or better. I am just a newbie with big equipment, all my expeience is based on renting a JD310 SJ, NH B90, L45 in the past three months before I purchased a L45. I did not get to rent a M59, just run around the lot on a used one and play a little.

Sorry, I do not want highjack the thread with my story, this about a new M59 OP purchased. I will shutup and go away now.

Had to laugh at myself on that one. I was holding the baby which was in the process of spewing milk down my shirt when I read your post. I saw "110" not "310". Perfectly understandable now! :D

It definitely does seem easier but to take the loader off is even safer and I think they don't want to spend the extra $100 on the bar if it is really even safer for you to take the loader off. Just a guess but I sure do wish they did that because I was too cheap and didn't get the quick detach loader for my 3120 so it takes nearly 45 min vs 2 minutes for me to take my loader off so I either risk it with it up or leave it down and makes it a PITA.

If I'm not mistaken, a new M59 base price is in the low $50k's, a new 310SJ is in the $100k range. A 310SJ loaded up could be around $120k. It is truly an industrial loader. As much of a machine an M59 would be to us a 310 makes it look like it belongs in a sandbox. The M59 is 60 HP, 310SJ is 93. M59 digs 12 feet, 310SJ digs 18' 5". A 310 is a lot more machine, lot heavier built. You would have a hard time finding a 4000 hour 8 year old 310 for the same price as a new M59. They are just bigger and stronger machines in two totally different machine classes. That said not only could I never in a lifetime justify a new one but I couldn't justify the size of one either where I need to go. Admittingly I would feel like a BA driving one though, they put everything all of us have to shame:laughing:

Agree 100%, I spent a very expensive day on the 310SJ (hit my truck with the BH), it was hard to move around my 6 acres, boy it was fun trying. The M59 would be a better all around machine. My wife told me to get the toy I wanted, so I considered it, just too big if there is such a thing.

Ohh yea, even bigger difference between the 110 and 310 then there is between the 310 and M59!

I thought about getting a 310D, the 90's era 310, but it was to big for my needs so I'm looking into a 110, the boss won't even let me get a new 110 though so forget about a new 310. I was afraid of the same thing though as I need it to go through the woods, sure the 310SJ wasn't dented but probably could've wrecked your truck!

I've had L45, M59 and the 110 on the brain for awhile now. I was doing a concrete job a few years ago and the GC asked if I could dig a new mainline from the street to the new barn. He called the rental yard and they delivered a brand new cabbed 310 ("G" believe) with less than 60 hrs on the ticker. Made quick work of the trench!.

The L45 seems to be about the same size as the 110, which I've checked out quite a bit. I need to get my hands on an M59 to compare size though. My local Kubota dealer has neither to look at.

A 310 sure will make quick work of any trench. L45 or M59 would be the way to go new IMO, and that's from one of the biggest Deere guys so don't take that lightly. The 110 will be no longer here shortly and although you'll still get service the L45 and M59 offer more features because of them being newer for the price. I'm looking used though and you can find a lot better deals on a used 110 because of them being around longer so that's the way I'm going.

The M59 's versatility is great, true it can not dig down 19' like the 416 extendahoe I traded in but it is nice to be able 90% of the same things and load it on your 10 ton trailer behind the dually and move it

That is more valuable to me. Specs are good to a point but there is also a point where you don't need that much and a point of being able to trailer and move it around easily.

I think you will be very happy with your M59:thumbsup:

I am very happy with my M59 also. I was so excited when I brought it home, that I forgot to take a pic. of it before I used it:)

Congratulations on the new M59. They are sure nice. Just used ours for clearing snow off the dirt road leading to our house. About two feet of new snow over half a foot of compacted snow and ice. With that huge bucket on the M59 and all the weight and power.....well, moving a few feet of snow is easy. No chains or special attachments required; just fire it up and go push snow.

BTW, there is a lot of M59 info in a long discussion on the forum next to this one: the Kubota owning/operating forum. Take a look at:

Good luck

Martian tractorman 'I have priced out the Larin cabs but 12k is a steep price I have some ideas for a cab, friend of mine is head of maint. at a golf course and they have a new unbreakable glass that can be bent to match the curve of the rops then I am going to mount it on the rops
Fantastic machine (Im still dreaming.....) If you build your own cab, dont fit it allround with unbreakable glas...if you roll it down a pond...you are quiet instrested to get out of cab pretty fast...;)
I allmost get the freedom-feeling of bike driving with no cab....(well almost;)
