Size wise I believe it is almost the same size of the Ford Ranger.
At under 120 inch wheelbase and 69.68" wide with the mirrors folded in.
It actually has a shorter wheelbase than a Ford Ranger supercab.
Ranger is 69.3 inches wide without mirrors and wheelbase is 125.9 (4x4)
It will actually tow worse (shorter wheelbase) than a Ford Ranger Supercab.

I don't think many folks will be using it for towing heavy loads. If I get one and tow, it will be just to take my zero turn mower somewhere.............then it will be my 20 foot gooseneck and I won't worry about who's wheelbase is shorter. I will never go back to bumper pull towing. With a 5000 pounds tow limit, I can still tow a 2400 pounds on my trailer. Anything more than that and it will be my dually. I think sales will all be around the idea of 30 mpg in a utility diesel pickup, not who has a smoother ride while towing. That is still 10 mpg better than my dually.

Anyone know if Ford is continuing their plan for a TDi F-150? I know that GM cancelled their diesel light-pickup plans last fall. What is wrong with these companies? Chrysler sells their 50Mpg Stratus in Europe but won't (or can't) bring it here. Ford has their 60Mpg Focus in England, etc.

I'll continue to drive my foreign car that gets 40mpg plus (city/highway) until the "American" auto companies come up with a viable solution. Ideally I would like to have a diesel light pickup that would get 30mpg highway. That way I could do away with my mpg-machine and my gas guzzling GM pickup and just only have to deal with one car. They've had the technology for years and they could have been making them before the 2006 ULSD changeover.

Ford is abandoning their once 90% marketshare of ambulance chassis. Watch and see everyone of them go to the Dodge (Mercedes) Sprinter chassis as they get almost 30% better fuel economy.

I might be wrong, but I think Ford has either delayed or canceled the F150 diesel. But that was a magazine last Dec. Maybe now it back on the front burner.
I do know Ford has a problem with bringing the 60 mpg Focus here because of labor cost in the engine. I gather it is made in England and might have some patent issues or something like that to bring it here or the labor cost here to make that engine. I am looking at a Fiesta (for the price and MPGs) for my daughter to replace her Ram 1500. I don't think I can wait around for a 60 mpg Focus.
If I bought a high MPG car....it would be a VW Jetta Turbo Diesel. My friend squezes 48 MPG out hers. That is, when she is not going 70 MPH and getting over 30 MPGs.

If Ford had their 60+MPG Focus here, they would sell them by the millions. I would personally dump my tdi sedan for the Ford. Heck, everyone I know would dump their sedans for the diesel mileage monster.

I remember reading on a 4x4 forum about how people are trying to "smuggle" up TDI Ford Rangers up from central america. I read that a few are driving around here that got past US Customs. All of the auto companies have compact diesel pickups for that matter. I think GM's are made in Indonesia and then shipped to South America.

More problems for Mahindra:
Breaking: Mahindra Dumps US Distributor | The Truth About Cars

May be a while before we see the trucks.

Bill

I am not so sure about that Bill. Mahindra has been saying they were pulling the distribution contract for months, but Global Vehicles (GV) says 都uch attempted termination is invalid under applicable laws of the United States and the State of Georgia, something which Mahindra continues to disregard.

Sure, but good luck sueing a corporation in India using Georgia courts. There is no way to enforce a judgement. There's a long Farmtrac thread on here describing similar futility.

One of the car columnists noted that domestic demand has increased in India by 15%, while Mahindra's suppliers are unable to increase production. They may simply have nothing to ship to the US.

A business columnist (on Bloomberg???) noted that Mahindra just bought a bankrupt S. Korean SUV builder. I wonder if they now plan to send those over instead.

I think the Mahindra trucks just became vaporware.

Think about it California.........if a U S judge says Mahindra NA has illeglly voided a contract with GV, it would be hard for Mahindra NA to bring vehicles into the U S under any other company. GV doesn't have to enforce anything or collect anything. They just have a court stop all imports. End of discussion. I would think Farmtrac is a whole other ballgame, since they already had product here.
Why would Mahindra pull out of the U.S. market after having put so much time and money into getting their trucks EPA certified?:confused2:
