Just spoke to the service manager about my 4WD issue and he told me the shaft snapped! He was currently on the phone to find out what the heck could have caused that. Being in the manufacturing industry myself could be heat treatment job was bad. Hopefully there are not a whole batch of them out there.

Hey Mowin, what were you doing when the 4WD went out? I just got mine last night. I didn't get to use it but the wife mowed about 4 acres with it. I will need to put it to the test this weekend.

Was mowing my 4 acre field when I noticed it, went to make a turn on a hill and rear wheels started spinning. I've used the loader some to clear some briar's and tilled the garden and everything seemed ok. When the service guy picked up the tractor he made the comment that I probably should remove the FEL when mowing especially given some of the slopes on my property.

That hardly seems right to me. Should have went "Orange" I guess.

I cant agree with your dealer on that comment, other than if you have some pretty good slopes, it might be safer without the loader.
Are you saying that the driveshaft from the transmission to the front axil snapped? I have seen a snap ring get out of place on that shaft causing the coupling splines to strip.

I have not seen the tractor or the broken shaft but was told by the sales guy that the service tech told him that the 4WD drive shaft had snapped. I am calling the service tech this morning to get it from the horses mouth. Can't imagine that you have to baby this tractor! That is why I bought the Max series to avoid this issue.

I just received my free owners club hat along with a letter stating my satisfaction was their biggest concern, well we will see how that plays out soon.

Just spoke with the srevice Mgr. and he tells me that probably should have weight added to rear tires to equalize load on tractor so as not to stress front axle when in 4WD. He says especially going downhill puts a lot of undue stress on frt drive. In the same breath he says he has never seen this issue before. Am I the only guy that mows slopes for petes sake.

Again should have bought Orange I guess.

Wow, you mean I just bought a tractor that has the highest fel lift capacity of all the competitors and the 4WD shaft can't take the stress of mowing with the fel on! Sure sounds like he hasn't a clue!
