Okay, you solved the dilemma - thanks! I originally tested my tractor with the brake pedals NOT tied together - and the 4WD light did not come on. Then I retested them with the pedals tied together and the 4WD light did come on like the OP's tractor did! I think if the OP will try this he'll have the same outcome as I did.

Well it now sounds like all is well and working as designed.
I want to thank each of you for the assistance and mention that it would have been helpful if this info had been included in the owners manual.

I rarely, rarely, almost never have my brake pedals locked together on my 9540. So I would have certainly missed that small technicality.

Japanese owner's manuals are lacking.

As are Japanese Work Shop Manuals.

Glad we got this figured out. For the record my tractor was ordered in Feb 2017 and delivered in Mar 2017. When it was delivered to the dealer it had a Feb 17, 2017 date written on the right side cab door window. Not sure what that date is.

Sounds like you already got the answer, but for additional reassurance, my new M7060 HD12 does the same thing.

I wanted all to know that I have found on page 29 of my operators manual where it does describe that the light will come on if the brakes are locked together.

Not sure how I missed it.... but it's in there.
