Thanks James. I am the same way trying to find bargains it doesn't happen for me. plus it comes with a 5 year warranty. I just am trying to make sure I am not overpaying for it. All this research... its worst then looking at a new truck. :) Avillahdw. Have you had any problems with this brand?

I have had no problems at all with mine. Great tractor. My small Kubota is hydrostatic trans so I was unsure of the shuttle shift but it is very easy. Almost to 200 hours. Only regret is I didn't have the $$ to go to cab model.

I found this model on craigslist in Texas for the same price. So I can bargain with them and the dealer here. I bet the cab is nice to have but they are pricy.

What is the mark up on tractors?

This is a very interesting thread.

I called RCO awhile back and they didn't have any K models when I called. What does the prospective buyer give up to meet this price point?

And does anybody know anybody who has one?

What is the mark up on tractors?

Hi shane77c! Welcome. Where in LA are you located? I'm in NW LA.

I'm curious about markup myself. I bought an LS P7010C in October. I had a $6k spread between 5 dealers in LA and TX. I think markup is what is desired and or required to make a particular dealer profitable and keep his/her doors open. The lowest price may not be the best option either. They may be too far to trailer the tractor to for waranty work. Some local dealers will refuse waranty work if they did not sell the tractor to you. Its an experience shopping for a new tractor, new dealer, and getting the most for your money, for the least of your money!

$22K for a 55hp tractor is an awesome deal. Is that a 2wd? With or without a loader? I looked at the K series before I went stupid retarded and bought the P7010C. I don't regret it at all! I'll make that clear. I just feel guilty purchasing that class of tractor when the K series would have been sufficient. The P series is nicer than my truck!

The K5055 2wd is about equal to the 1962 Farmall 504 that I have. It handled about 90% of what I needed. I bought the P7010C for the 3500 lb loader capacity and cab.

Again thank you all for your response and helpful information the one I looked at is a 2014 and its four wheel drive and it has the FEL. After a lot of thought and number crunching. I am going to scale back a little. I have a friend that could possibly sell me his kabota L3130 HST for a great price. Besides this dealer in town the closest one is almost three hours away. so that is playing a factor in this also.

I am in southeast Louisiana. I do understand that if I do not buy it from a dealer they were not work on it. I think that is crap. I worked at a car dealership long time ago and if refused work we would have been fired on the spot.

Shane,

Good luck on the Kubota fellow Louisianian! The L3130 HST is 24 PTO HP. You had mentioned contracting mowing jobs. You will only be able to pull a 5' cutter and slowly in heavy stuff if cutting lower than 6"-8". Just throwing that out there. But good deals are hard to come by!

The auto network is TOTALY different than the AG network. The AG dealers cannot turn you down so to speak. I contacted LS USA on this matter personally. My local dealer (4 miles away) flat out told me if I did not buy from him, don't bring your tractor to me unless I was paying for the work. When I contacted LS USA I was told if a dealer advertises LS, they must honor warranty. But was told that if a dealer pushed back on a customer it could be months before work was forced by LS. They will use excuses like, "I'm booked up on my customers" or "I'm a mechanic short" and the list goes on.

If you try to force it on a dealer, your tractor may sit on the back lot for two months and then get an oil changer to perform the work. So I bought from a dealer 30 miles away, that so happens to handle about half of the other dealers warranty work as well as his customers work. No brainer, I found my new dealer! If you decide to revisit LS, there is a growing following on this forum.

I agree on the size of the cutter. The land that I will be cutting it short so that should not be a problem. Its a starting point and once I build up the business I can upgrade.

Nice to see fellow Louisianian on here.

Never understood the shop stuff, myself.

Each part of the dealership should make money, but sometimes it doesn't. The one part which does always seem to make money is the shop, so why turn down work for which the factory pays pretty well for?
