DRinMA,

Welcome to the club and Congratulations!!! Actually, I believe I must now pass the hp/acre award to you as I believe I was holder of that title with 30 hp (B2910) on 2/3 acre. Your 24 hp B2400 on 1/2 acre handily beats mine. I accept defeat graciously. (Unless I'm allowed to include my 13 hp Honda HT3813 lawn tractor...then I'm still in the race. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Can we have a ruling from the Supreme Court?)

Where abouts in MA are you? I'm in Feeding Hills, which is part of Agawam "Home of Six Flags New England"...which is near Springfield.

Good luck on your new purchase and hope you have as much fun working with it as I have had with mine.

RickJay,
I am in Burlington, just NW of Boston.

Wow, now I am a winner at something. I think I still have you beat. I have 2 15HP GE Elec-Trak tractors! Neither is running, but one just needs batteries. So that is 24+15+15HP for 1/2 acre!

Hi Dave,

I suppose I could ask for an official ruling from the Tractor Supreme Court as to whether or not a non-running tractor counts. I don't wish to turn this into a "Floriduh" type contest. I will graciously hand the crown over to you.

Actually, I did take a bit of ribbing (all in fun type stuff) with my tractor purchase in relation to the size of my lot. The truth of the matter is, I bought mine with loader, backhoe and post hole digger...basically it's a digging machine...and it's been that and more. In my yard, I needed every advantage with my hardpan and rock yard. I'm amazed at it's power and maneuverability...and have not yet regretted my purchase at all. In fact, I smile everytime I see it parked in the garage. I really smile when I get to put it to "work". /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Once you (and your neighbors) get used to the size of the tractor in your yard, you will feel very comfortable with it and find uses for it you never imagined. After the holidays, I'm going to post a list and some pics of the jobs I've done with mine in its first 30 hours of service.

Good Luck with your tractor. They're fantastic machines.

Hello folks,

DR...thanks for making your original post! I have been lurking and reading for several weeks. I want a tractor BAD! I live on .62 acres in a subdivision and was having the same thoughts as you. A fellow I work with does landscaping on the side and I think I can justify the purchase by doing some work on the side.

I am debating several Orange tractors and hope to decide soon.

Also want to thank everyone on these boards for all the insightful and entertaining posts.

Welcome... Buy what you like. I stsrted out with and still
have a G2000 4ws with 60in mower. Ican mow an acre and a half in an hour 5 times on a tank of gas. In the cold months
I can plow snow right along with any pick-up truck, just takes longer and have to have extra weight. It even pushes
top soil around. The only draw back is, no down pressure on
the front blade. It just takes a little longer and getting use to it. What would be ideal for you is kubota's bx1800 or bx2200. That's my next up grade. No matter what you get
ENJOY it.
