. As for the ear muffs I will probably use them when on it for a long duration.

You really should wear ear protection 100% of the time. My old tractor didn't seem loud until I shut it down and realized that I couldn't hear. Not good.

You know you are probably right. I have them already and will probably use them all the time, no sense in losing my hearing because of negligence

Yep, I use hearing protection all the time when on a tractor. Hearing damage can be cumulative. I once had my ears ringing (mostly the left) for weeks and went to the doc. He asked if I had been to a music concert or some other loud situation. i told him that I had not. He then asked if I had been exposed to medium level noise for LONG periods of time. At the time I was a traveling salesman handling 4 states and the AC in my diesel was broken, so I drove with my windows down. The constant roar of the open window on my left ear and the diesel drone for hours and hours is what was doing it. Very similar to being on a tractor.

Nice looking tractor. You should get many years of service from her.

She is a beauty....congrats and good luck.

Hoye has a power steering kit which I added recently. It's a great improvement but did change the speed and responsiveness of my loader

Thanks everyone! Yeah I think she is a beauty too!! Scotty how exactly did it change the responsiveness of your loader? I know it runs off the same pump, but was wondering if it slowed your loader down at all times or only when your trying to use both at the same time?

Nice write up Scotty!! I will have to refer to that when mine comes in, or maybe hit you up for some installation advice?? Also does that PS kit allow you to use the PS at a complete stop? Are you glad you still installed it?

Also Scotty what made you choose your 2020d over another tractor?

Scotty I was also going to ask you if you ever found a higher volume pump that you mentioned in your write up.

No rhyme or reason on why I picked the 2020D. I had researched for a couple years and knew that pound for pound the yanmars were the best bang for the buck. I placed a few ads locally in Craigslist wanting a yanmar. Shortly thereafter a guy contacted me that was in the Coast Guard Station near by, and shipping out to Louisiana. The Coast Guard would not pack and ship his tractor for him. It had all the features and functionality that I wanted like power shift, a decent size engine, and loader. It is a VN recon but done a long time ago and had 190- hours on it. It had one small leak in the front axle and I think I did really well by buying it for $4000 including a brush hog and a back blade.

I would definitely recommend the power steering kit although expensive. I have a really bad shoulder that's in need of surgery and the tractor steering was taking a toll on me. Yes you can use it while the tractor is at a standstill but it is really dependent upon the rpms. I did upgrade to the 9 cc pump and did notice a difference. The reality is that without power steering the loader gets all of the hydraulic fluid first so that even at low rpms the bucket raises and tilts pretty normally and quickly. With the power steering kit added the fluid is routed to the power steering first so that makes the Loader responsiveness much slower and non-existent at low idle. It takes a little bit to get used to but when you want the bucket to raise fast you have to increase rpms. My loader valve just kicked the bucket (no pun intended) so I'm going to replace it with a two spool with regeneration float and power beyond. I'm going to replumb the tractor so that it utilizes the power beyond and feeds the 3 point from there. I don't know if it'll make any difference but I sure hope it does.

I also put a suicide knob on my steering wheel and I absolutely love the ability to steer the tractor with one hand especially when looking backwards and checking the rear implements or back blading. If you need any help with the installation of the power steering kit please let me know and I will gladly lend a hand and provide any pictures or advice you may need.

Thanks Scotty! Also I think you got a sweet deal for that 2020 at $4000! I just had shoulder surgery on 2-10-16 so I can appreciate the feeling of wanting a PS kit. I will hit you up later on a PM about installing the kit when it comes in as well as where you got your 9cc pump too.
