New Member -YM 1700 transmission dipstick length

From one 1700 to another-Welcome aboard tgrammar,
my 1700 came with the style that has the stick type,
You mentioned about checking the hyraulic fluid, so I attached a photo of it as well,
with having so many variables between just the 1700's alone it can become confusing, I had always thought the 1700 and 2000 had the same engine and transmission, although I'm begining to question even this now,
I think sometime along the life of our Yanmars people may change parts using what ever is available and will work,
( guilty as charged ) I couldnt be 100% sure that the dipsticks on my tractor are original, But do know they came on the tractor when I got it,

Looks pretty darn close if you look down at the Standard measurement. The side of your tape is 1'-1/16'. I'm 95% sure mine is Orig. so tgrammer should be okay with these measurements. Another way is in my notes I have 16Qts. 4gal. JD 303. Change the Hyd. fluid and check it and see what happens. They matched mine when I refilled it.

The 1700 and the 2000 use the same DS. This is my Ym2000. If you remove the Rubber Washer It's 8". Or 23 cm.

LOL... 8 inches is NOT 23 cm... 8 inches is 20.32 cm

Wow! thanks for all the welcomes and responses!

i just measured 1 3/4" from the top of the hydraulic fluid to the outside(top) surface of the dipstick screw threading which means if i had an 8" dipstick, my oil level would be substantially high.

I think i'll go ahead and change the fluid and see how the two levels differ

Time to clean the Filter while you're draining it. 3 bolt triangle plate and you should be in good shape.

Finally getting around to changing the trans fluid.
Took off the 3 bolt triangle plate and the screen is completely gone! Also theres metal shards that i suspect are the remnants of the missing dipstick...
Anyone know where to get a new screen?

Also what else should i check on? right before i started changing the fluid, the 3 pt system completely stopped working. could i have a clog somewhere?

while i have the fluid drained, what else can i check on for the 3 pt lifting/lowering issues?

further update:
i found and removed the old screen that had sheared off the plate. also removed the spring and rod
i'm currently using a magnet to fish out the shards of dipstick
