Good point!! To tell the truth I think he would have gotten the same response from all of the major brands.

I'm still trying to figure out is why it took so long to notice the problem in the first place?

Of course I don't know what kind of deal price wise he got, but looking at the dates of the messages posted, it appears that the problem was found in less than 2 weeks after he bought it, so if he bought it from a dealer, then I would have expected some kind of warranty or assistance unless the deal included an "as is" agreement.

Jerry, I can't say for sure how long it took to find it; maybe he can clear that up for us. But he posted one message on 8/18/03, then a message on 8/19/03 that said he "recently" bought the tractor, then on 8/30/03, he posted that he found the problem "last week", so I don't have any specific time, but that made it appear to me that it was fairly recent. Of course, if I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You may have done the same thing that I did at first. There is a smithyd from Georgia and a smithy from Missouri. They are both in the same thread. smithy"d" has a MF 1240 and smithy has a MF 1235. smithyd is the one with the problem.

Jerry and all!What I would have done is look into the problem as it was? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gifThe rear main seal was pinched,put together like that. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifhad I used my tractor a hell of alot the first year it would have showned up and been fixed!It would have cost trhe dealer less than he charged me!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gifThe part cost under $3.00 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif and the labor was over $700..If it was me and my call would have been to look at each situtation and see about it.This was'nt a minor purchase by me,nothing like just a few parts or simple things.A tractor,trailer,bushhog,tiller,disk,5 shank plow to name a few things /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gifSo this wasn't a matter of me being someone who bought a oil filter every other year. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifNo matter what the seal was pinched during assembly and the mechanic showed them.By all means they were right to not honor the warrninity but the dealer lost all future business of mine and anyone who asks about aM/F.I already lead 2 others to other brands because of the ordeal,not alot of business but 2 sales these days do count for something...... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Jerry,the dealer as well as yourself responded that the problem was a hyralic seal,they tried that a new $650. pump and finally after some higher up stated break it open the rear main is the problem they fixed it.I just figure if the problem is in the manurfacturing then they owe it to me, to fix the problem they caused.Like I said its all washed down stream now.Its over with.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
