New MF135 owner - alternator dead & power steering leak

Thanks! If that's what it is, it looks like it attaches to the ground on the voltage regulator. Where is the regulator, behind the dash somewhere? The frame for the front loader makes it hard to look back there.

Alternator was dead per bench test, got a new one yesterday. Will install this weekend. The casing model # on the alternator was from a 10SI but the alternator was a 10DN, had me confused.

Regulator is behind the tachometer, next to the battery. After looking again at the photo in your first post I would suspect you will have a difficult time working on the tractor with the loader and frame on. It is a stout one!

Thanks! Going to dig into the wiring behind the panel next weekend.

Got the new alternator installed, working great, something like 17v at the alternator and 14v at the battery so regulator seems ok. Ammeter doesn't work.

Went to start it the next day and the battery was dead so I guess something is draining it. Is there supposed to be 12v at the F terminal on the alternator with the tractor off? I thought the 10DN was self energizing but maybe the regulator is supposed to only send field current when it's running. Maybe that's what the black wire is for.

It's proving to be a challenge with the loader, I need a stronger flashlight... everything is covered in oil of course... making good progress though.
