I'm interested in how they do regens without EFI.

The Kubota B3350 that had so many regen related problems also used mechanical FI. Hopefully Kukje figured out a better way.

DEF seems to only be needed on engines over 75hp where Tier 4 requires fewer pollutants per hp.

The 6225R and H sold in Europe with 60HP, actually selling pretty well all over Europe, have been doing nicely using a DOC + DPF.

The few problems I've seen over the various forums and groups, has been caused by the owners buying to big of a tractor for their tasks and just not running those engines hard enough for the DPF to be happy.

From the spec sheets, they're using the A2300 engine with turbo, so it's all mechanical engine.

I planned on going on a couple Ag shows and fairs this year to look at details like on how they handle the DPF without EFI along with other stuff but the virus just cancelled pretty much everything.

I'm also interested to see what Branson will do in Europe, since from 2020 and on, new tractors have to have Emission systems on it. I don't know if the HP requirements will be like the ones in the US tho. For now, they just stop selling the 2900 and 3100 models, both turbo engines and 29 and 31 HP respectively, and launched a 2500 with 25hp.

That's very interesting they're adding a manual regen. I wonder how they're going to "light" it? Separate injector and igniter mounted to the DOC filter can? That would have been handy to try here when cold starting one at -40 F ambient air temp.

If they want me to field test one of them next winter, have them send one up.

I’ve been thinking about moving up a frame size from my kubota MX5100 and that 5835 looks perfect for what I want. I can’t wait to check one out in person.

Just noticed that Branson added the 5835 to their website: 5835R – Branson Tractors

Also noticed that they now provide an adjustment for the sensibility for clutch packs engagement.

I test drove a 5835R last week. It’s a great size tractor... but Im not sure Its the one for me yet. My biggest complaint is the loader seems slow and it won’t multi-function whatsoever like my kubota does with its regenerative loader valve. However, it does seem deliberate and I think would be very strong. Also, I’m not sure the one I drove was quite right. The clutch pack seemed to slip quite a bit sometimes between forward and reverse even with the forward/reverse sensitivity set aggressively. The tractor looks well built and the 3pt hitch looks super beefy and operates extremely smooth. Turning radius is amazing as well. I would guess sharper than my smaller kubota. I’m not writing this tractor off at all... I just think I may wait and let some of the possible bugs get worked out first.

The 5835 also has electro-hydraulic 4wd engagement. I wonder if that will trickle down to the smaller models. My 3725 still can be difficult to get out of 4wd.

My 3725's loader valve also won't raise/lower and curl at the same time. It's got regen, I think the valve spools are not balanced or tuned or whatever it is for simultaneous operation.

I think I would personally prefer that they did not convert more models to electro-hyd 4wd. Just personal preference, and part of the KISS principle that lends strength to the Branson as a choice. Adding more "foo-foo" stuff and electronic controls may be where the future in the market goes, as more SCUT and CUT shoppers want the products they buy to be more like new cars. But I kind of like where my model is, other than the radio and dash cluster, nothing else is "electronic" in nature. There are electric switches for lights, cruise, pto and A/C, but they are just switches and relays.

I also wish my loader controls were more discrete. My loader lift and lower control is very good, and can inch it up or down when needed. But my curl function is like a spastic toddler with an energy drink and a donut. And I can't curl and lift at same time. Not the end of the world, but if someone came up with an upgraded FEL control, like an aftermarket kit, I'd be all over it.

Maybe since that model is so new, the electro-clutch gizmo just wasn't adjusted correctly out of the box? Maybe the dealer can make a few calls to Branson N. America and get some tech folks involved?

Meant to add for Eric,

Sometimes my 4wd engage/disengage goes without any real effort at all. Other times, I do have to fiddle with it. I find that if I'm going in a straight line, slow down and stop gradually, shift the hydro to N and then work the 4wd lever, it clicks right over without issue. Seems at least on mine, if I've come to a full stop quickly and am sitting there, or have been or am currently in the middle of a turn, or the front wheels are turned even a little, then it tends to bind up the front driveline and I have to fight it. I've also had other Branson forum members say that they just pick their front wheels off the ground with the FEL. I've tried that and it works too.

I have the electric hydraulic 4wd activation and it has always worked good for me.
I do wish the system was reversed as our bigger tractors are, in them them when you use the switch to activate 4wd you are actually switching off the soleniod which disengages the drive clutch pack. Were as our activates a solenoid to operate the clutch pack.
One thing this new one doesn't have is a multi speed pto which to me would be a disappointment and possibly a reason not to go with.
