fencepost, you will be really lucky to find a tractor with a FEL at a dealer for $6,000 or under. Have you looked through your local Craigslist ads?

If you can up that to $8,000 you can find some really good domestic machines (kubota, Deere) in that price range now that are newer (10 years young).

kenmac already mentioned the biggest Yanmar importer in the country (I would presume) but I am doubtful you can walk away under 6,000 there either.

Good Luck and don't rush into buying.

I think you should go for the Yanmar. Although I dont have the YM2000, my 169D (1401D) is a great tractor. It has always got the job done (even without the FEL) and it can run for hours on end with one tank of diesel.

Can a FEL be added to the Yanmar 2000? I also think it might be a reconed unit it has low hours. I've read parts are a problem. I really don't want somthing else to work on. Here latly everything I have has some kind of problem.

yes a FEL can be added to the YM2000, however it is a 2wd tractor and doesn't have power steering so it will be rough on the steering box with a really heavy load.

Parts for the YM2000 are not an issue, ,may be the easiest model to get parts for, what you have probably read is that parts for VN recons are hard to get? not exactly, the problem is a lot of times the VN machines have mixed parts from several different model tractors making it hard to know/find what part was used.

I can tell you adding a FEL after a purchase will cost you $3000-$3500 for an installed loader, its cheaper to find a machine with one already installed...but not easier

an FEL can be added to anything. If you already have other concerns. Why would you even consider this tractor ??

I'm just staying open minded. I'm looking at everything. Even an old city backhole that has had the rear boom removed.
