I realize that but the seller indicated that it was a 2009 not 2008. It could have been by an honest mistake. I will talk to him and see if he is willing to come off his price some. His tractor does not come with a loader so I will be buying a new LA854 from a dealer and have them installing it.

All I am saying is what has been addressed in untold beginning threads on "what year is my tractor", "when was this tractor made" etc. Tractors unlike cars do not have titles or model years. Of the four new tractors I have purchased since 2003, I don't know when any of them were actually made only when I bought them, My brother and I have bought used tractors and only have a general idea of when they were made give or take a few years.

If that is important to someone then buy accordingly, but a year one way or the other has rarely in my experience made any difference in price.

I appreciate what you are saying. So if you have 2 tractors sitting if front of you with the same amount of hours and one is a 2008 and the other is a 2009, they both would have the same value?

They would to me if the condition and features were identical, yes. As I've said, I have never bothered to even inquire on a build date. Some will sit in a crate for a long time before being shipped out. You can't tell from the build date how long something has sat in a warehouse or on the lot. You can conceivably buy a "newer" tractor that has spent more time out in the weather sitting on a lot than an older one kept in a warehouse in a crate or covered in some manner.

In the end you just have to go with what you are most comfortable. All I am saying is that it doesn't matter to me, not that it won't to you.

Thanks for your input. As you can see from my post count compared to your post count, you are by far more experienced in the tractor field than I am. I'll take in to consideration the condition of the tractor rather than in service date. Thanks again.

The only time that the year would make any difference would be if there was a design change. Example, a L5740 HST-1 will be slightly less than a L5740 HST-3 because of the design improvements. But normally the year means very little, hours and condition say it all.

Yeah, don't worry about what year it was built.

Don't be too impressed with a high post count, it's meaningless. I may just have said stupid stuff a LOT of times.

With 75 hours on it I think I would go used. I bought my tractor with the idea of keeping it for decades so resale value wasn't an issue. One thing to remember is if the used tractor doesn't have the type of tire you want/ need a lot of that $4k savings will be used up buying new tires and wheels. You can sell the old ones but it could take some time.
