I recently installed a push button starter on my NH 1920 to completely bypass the wiring harness and send full battery power to the starter solenoid. My wiring harness and associated wiring continued to give me starting problems because of the some varmint-chew damage and some questionable modifications done by the previous owner. I tried to repair the harness, troubleshoot the wiring, and install a new relay (as suggested on TBN) for about 2 years before deciding that a push button was the most dependable fix...and it has been working fine for about 9 months. When I turn the switch to on position (not start), the fuel solenoid opens and I then just push the button to apply full battery power to the starter solenoid. CAUTION: The push button also bypasses all of the safety switches and will turn the starter anytime it is pushed, even without the key on. However, the tractor will not start until the fuel solenoid is opened. The wiring on these tractors is known for causing many problems so I opted for the dependable, yet unsafer, repair.
