New owner of YM2001

I just purchased a YM2001 and love it! I have manuals on order but in the meantime just have a few quick questions for you guys.

Under the throttle lever is a pully latch type thing, is this like a choke? (The kind of handle you put 2 fingers around and pull),

also on the ingnition swith what does the TS mean?
like there is TS, OFF, ON, START..

I put it to on and wait about 20 seconds to crank, but I do not see a glow plug light on the dash???

lasty there is a light guage on teh dash that has a "lighting Bolt" picture on it, if I dont increase the rpm's slighty this light comes on, when I raise rpm it goes out, this like a charging light or something? Maybe its leting me know the engine isnt at a high enough rpm to charge the battery?

I believe the lever you are describing is the decompression lever. You pull it out to release the compression from the engine. keep it out about 10 seconds to aid in starting the engine. When you release it the engine should fire right up. A lot of the yanmars do not have glow plugs. My YM1700 does not.

TS is to activate the thermostart. Mine does not have it. Unless you live in a cold climate you probably wont need it.

The lightning bolt is for the generator/alternator. It is probably fine but, you might want to check the voltage to make sure the regulator is working correctly.

Check to make sure your alternator belt is tight

ok, Im a bit confused now, the lever I am talking about it near the park brake release, I also have a pull out knob on the dashboard, which is the decompression then?? and whats the other?

Could it be the leaver to raise the hood Something someone has added

i dunno..lol i doubt it, the hood locks on both sides

Actually i should have said to turn the lever to the left of operate the decompression lever. It will pull out about an inch but, that does not do anything. i can't imagine anything else like that.

that lever is the kill switch....it just shuts off the fuel. on that model with the throttel lever all the way forward the tractor will still run. or should run. then you gently pull that lever out and it kills the tractor.

What Runningbird said. On my 2020 that kills the tractor, the throttle won't do it. On the other side of the dash is the compression release.
