2011 Kubota 2320 HSD
My wife and I talked about doing this for several years and she is finally getting her hot tub. Needed a patio. Start to finish was 2.5 weeks thanks to my buddy Ron Eger at Ron Eger Masonry coming in for the forming, pouring and finishing. The Kubota earned it's spot in the garage one more time!!

Couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.

Now time for a retaining wall, firepit, finish the electrical and the long wait for the tub to be delivered.

My dear wife and I decided on block color and style and they were delivered yesterday. After hauling a few of these blocks around with a cheap tool that isn't sized right for this type of block, I went to bed last night dreaming that I would wake up and the walls were done. No such luck haha!

I am hoping my dear friends here at TBN will throw words of wisdom, lessons learned and inspiration my way. Say some prayers for my back fella's.

I think you should be able to take a drill and place a new hole to adjust the clip for the block carriers length. A second but not as good option is to install wood block or such on the end of what you have to act as a shim / filler.

Good call on the hole drill. I need to shorten the length of the shaft to make that happen but I can zip that off with a saw and do the drill. I did make rubber shims on the ends to get a better grip but they seem to be slipping with the block. Wish I had some safety wire, I may try a beefy zip-tie on either end as well.

Makes me very nervous lugging those 80 pound blocks around suspended from that tool over top of this brand new patio. I laid down pieces of plywood in case there is an oops moment.

Thanks for the input!

Handtruck. One of the ones with the bigger knobby tires. Load up a stack, place several stacks near the work area...

I found I could get about 12 of the wall blocks I was using in a stack before the handtruck got unmanageable. About 300 lbs.

Dropping those on your new surface is not a good deal I agree. Dropping them on a toe or foot is a possibility and even worse. The hand truck idea I like. Wagons type platforms are easy to steer and can cary quite a bit also :)

I worked for a brick mason in high school.... that tool does not bring back fond memories.... :)

I have one from Tractor Supply that says its rated at 1000 lbs. I know I've had close to that on there hauling wood. No rural place should be without one.

Northern Tool sells it, too.

Had some help tonight!

No one wants to see me in the hot tub that is for sure. All will be spared that scene!!

Lift truck helped out a lot. My solid filled tires were able to handle 4 at a time which made for smoother work. Thanks for the tip.

They "help" will look back on the project years from now when you all are setting there. Something to be said for working together on such things. Looking like all your work is coming together really nice.

Thanks Eddie; I assume you mean to have kids as young as mine or were you implying that I was the guy on the right in the picture? LOL!

Tub came yesterday and the weather has cooperated to get most of the wall completed. Order lights, transformers and the fire pit. Still need some more corner blocks and have to figure out how to finish my corners where I have the seats. Just can't wrap my head around what will look right and finish it off proper.

I really appreciate the compliments and advice men. Always nice to have someone in your corner steering you the right way!!hot tub.JPG

Here is an updated photo with the fire pit in. We have moved on to the work in the house now that my yard and driveway is an ice skating rink. Can't wait until Spring to pave the driveway!

Merry Christmas fellas!!Finished Patio.jpg

Very nice Rob, you will enjoy that for years to come. Our patio has become our summer hangout, well worth all of the effort, and very rewarding when you can
say you did it yourself. Your under cap lights look very similar to the ones I used.
good job
