When I taught service classes for dealer techs, I had one tell me a not so funny story that applys.
They got a new mega cab diesel off the transport. Someone in "taco land" had been living in it. They drew a picture of a female showing her privates over the entire headliner and left a few DNA samples in the truck.
My guess is it was stored somewhere before it crossed the border and the artist took up residence.....

Well, not heard from the vehicle search gang yet. I think I must be correct. The "transport" is difficult to locate. Had to take another shower. Anticipation was making me itch.
Man - this cold wx is holding on forever. Warms up during the day but remains below freezing. The humidity is what makes it so bone chilling cold.
Just hanging in and waiting.

In today's electronic age with GPS, computers and cellular service, I can't imagine how they wouldn't know where their product is sitting. Even if they had a 3rd party carrier service, I can't help but think with the inventory dollars being hauled around, they would want to know where it's at.

Good News. Just completed chat with corporate, again. Ram DOES NOT have a system of tracking vehicles "in transit". However, the tech I talked to said - any day now. Certainly within the next seven to ten days. At least, that's more encouraging than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
Sigarms - I'm with you. In todays age, its inconceivable that there isn't some form of tracking system in place. I'm I the only person who wonders where their new vehicle is? I would imagine not. I have an idea why the transport vehicle may not have a tracking system. Its not very complimentary - not worth mentioning here.
Anyhow - I'm in a better frame of mind now. I'm charging up the L-ION batteries for the big Canon. These first pics will be with the EOS 5DS system.

I can relate. In March of 2011, I decided I wanted to buy the 'new' Durango that was just returning to market. My wife decided that it would be Blackberry Pearlcoat in color. We checked the local dealer inventory and they had one 'In-Transit'. I went down there, test drove one on the lot and made a deposit on the one that hadn't yet arrived. In this case, it wasn't that it was 'lost' but living in a major metro area (Washington, DC and suburbs), the yard where all the train loads of cars were offloaded were packed full. The local car carriers could only get the closest cars out so it was an additional two weeks before enough cars had been pulled/delivered/moved before my dealer (a large dealer at that) could take possession of the Durango. 125k miles later and I still have that vehicle. Just be a little patient.
I do have some tips for you: Don't take delivery at the end of the day; the lighting is usually poor and if there are any issues/defects you won't be able to see them. Have your build sheet (not Window Sticker/Monroney Label) from the FCA database in hand and use it as a checklist. During PDI, small items like floor mats, cargo nets, remote controls, headsets, manuals get misplaced (taken). Make sure you take possession of everything that you're supposed to. Most times, these items are in non-descript cardboard boxes thrown into the front or back seats at the factory.
