I'm a part time farmer in northern VT with 35+ beef cows and about 25 acres of hay. Sell some hay and keep most for my animals. All equipment is used, some pretty nearly antique, but I am gradually moving up. got a used rotary rake for the first time this year, after years of good service from a JD 640. Sorry to see it go, but the rotary is soo much better and easier to use. Ditto a "new" discbine a New Idea 5209 white, not red replacing my almost thirty year old Hesston 1050. I'm still learning that one. Right now, I am looking for a replacement tedder--I have a Fanex 500 that I have spent hours rebuilding, and although I have corrected every fault I can find (bent wheel struts, a twisted shaft, a couple of broken gear teeth and more) it just doesn't do the job I want in heavy hay--leaves a lot on the ground, and doesn't fluff well enough. A really good mechanical friend has tinkered too, and his advice is to cut my losses. What would be a good replacement used? and how to avoid trouble if I buy another of these (there are a lot of the Vicon RS510's around here which is the same machine) Thanks
