I got back to the tractor today. Three new exhaust valves and the head is back on. Adjusted the valve by the manual and everything looked good till I turned to no.2 cyl. When I set those valves I got looking at the no.3 cyl and it appeared the rocker arm was looser than it should be so I put the feeler gauge on it and it was about .010 when I had just set it on .006. Maybe I was just tired so I thought I would call it a day and think about it. Two of the valve seals I bought from Hoye were bad. One had no little spring on it and the other one the spring broke as I put it on the valve so rather waiting another weel I used two of the old ones. 004.jpg005.jpg006.jpg007.jpg

I wonder if you could buy the same size seals locally?

Most likely could but I already put the head on. The old seals looked good. Going to have to recheck the valve lash tomorrow when I have a clear mind.

It's amazing how much better things go with a clear mind. Rechecked the valves today and everthing checked out good. Put all fluids in with fresh fuel. After bleeding the fuel system the engine cranked and ran like a new one. I expected it to smoke up my shop but to my surprise It didn't smoke any. I spun the engine with the fuel shut off and the compression release on. The oil light went off after three or four revolutions. Thanks for all the Ideas and opinions. Now all I need is some warmer weather to check out the rest of the tractor. I'll keep everybody informed.

Glad to hear you got her going again ! Did you have any problems getting the fuel pump back in time ? Did you have the pump checked while you had it off ?

No to both. Just reinstalled as it came off. After bleedibg at the filter, the pump, and the injectors the tractor turned over about two revolutins and was running. I have the tractor on jack stands with the wheels off so I tried the lift and the powershift and they both worked as they should.
