/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Has anyone researched a cross reference from the PT-425 Hydraulic Filter Part # F063 - 1 to a name brand, locally available filter such as Hastings or Fram???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

PS: /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Don't know for sure if it is an "O" or a "0"!! Hate it when they do that!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

if you do a search under power track and filter you will get an education. one of our guys is a mechanical engineer and he explains at great detail all you ever want to know about filters /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Did that first!! Searched for "hydraulic" and "filter". No numbers!!

I don't need a graduate course in lubrication theory or a nationwide opinion pole on what's the best weight or brand of oil - just a part number or two from someone who has non-PT hydraulic filters on their shelf for the newest PT-425!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

i am very sorry if you are offended, put maybe someone else is glad that i made that suggestion. this is kindergarten searching the power trac subforum this it is not a graduate course course in anything /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

here are the steps i took to get to the two postings added for your convenience:

Search:1. Power Trac
2. enter Filter in the search value,
or hydraulic filter (etc) and
3. i think what you may have missed is on the bottom window ALL POSTS

OUR EXPERIENCEbut if you if you do not get at least 10 micron rated filters because you do not care to pay $15.00 (such as we don't) plus shipping you could be in for serious damage like we have with replacing wheelmotors. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

AND with due respect to you Sir, just a sample of many postings on this subject:

Dave:
I have found different hydraulic filters are available locally at farm equipment dealers. I am currently using a purolator H32010 filter for the hydraulics, purolator assured me it is a 10 micron that power trac recommends. The original hydr. filter on my power trac 422 was a gresen K22001. I have not been able to find replacement oil filters for the robin engine in my 422 , but I can buy them from a local garden tractor dealer.

here it is, sorry for the delay!T
NAPA 1551, make sure it is rated at 10 micron.

good luck and happy tractoring ... i am loading pieces of a 60 foot maple tree on to the dump truck (with the grappler bucket) in this heat. i am so glad we don't have to do it by hand any longer.

/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I am certainly not offended, and I appreciate all the help I can get! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

However, in this case, I am just looking for a simple answer from someone who knows, such as:

"You can used XXX-XX, or YYY-YY, but don't use ZZZ-ZZ!!"

or "You are best off using WWW-WW because ________________!!"

or " I have done the research and found that VVV-VV are the filters to use because ________________!"

I want to use the best, but sometimes that is not OEM!! If OEM is the best, fine, now I know!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The pt filters are awfully high and I hate to pay the extra if there is a filter that will do the same thing for a cheaper price. But for right now my pt is under waranty and if something fails while under waranty I don't want to give them an excuse that it failed because of the filter that I was using wasn't suitable for that application. If I am using their filters I wouldn't have to argue that point. Another thing that you want to be sure of is that the filter that you get, although it is a 10 micron filter, is not a pressure filter instead of a suction filter. As you probably already know the inside construction of a suction filter is different than the filter for a pressure line. I was glancing at a magizine that had filter housings they gave two different filters to fit , one was a pressure filter and one was a suction filter. There was quite a bit of difference in the price, if I remember correctly the suction filter cost a lot more. I don't know if that helps you any, but from the discussion on the rotation of the stump grinder I beleive you will soon give us a tried and true report on this soon and I am waiting to hear your results.

You are right! Sometimes OEM is the best way to go!! Anyway, I got a spare filter with the tractor, so I'm good for 100 hours!

No brag, but I was 100% right about the Stump Grinder!! Rotating bottom teeth away from the tractor is the ONLY way to go!! I don't know how I could ever use it OEM!!
I did check with Phillip at Hydraulic House, Inc, and he assured me that the White Hydraulic Roller Stator Motor is fully reversible.
Wednesday, I chewed up 6 stumps of various sizes in less than 2 hours without a bit of dirt or wood on the PT-425 or me!!!

Thanks for the info!!

What did you have to do to reverse the direction?

Easy!!

Exchange the male and female hose couplings on the Stump Grinder.

Remove the 5 bolts holding the Stump Grinder blade to the Stump Grinder hub.

Reverse the direction of the teeth by turning the blade over.

Tighten the 5 hub bolts.

Enjoy stump grinding as never before!!

Cut the stump as short as possible with a chainsaw.
On most stumps, with the Stump Grinder tilted downward for a clear view of the blade, position the blade on the far side of the stump, move the blade down to the finish level you desire, and grind by moving the blade from side to side with the Suicide Knob while slowly creeping backward with the treadle.
In this way the teeth rotate downward cutting and breaking off chunks. The chips will be thrown out away from the operator and the PT-425, while keeping the cutting area clear.
