New PT1430 arrived.

...On the old tractor, the wheel motor boxes and wheel motors were mounted to the outside of the tub. the hoses passed thru holes in the tub and attached to the motors on outside. the boxes were also open on top and bottom which aloud debris to collect around the motor. On the new tractor, the boxes are fully enclosed. The wheel motors protrude into the tub where the hoses connect.

What is the distance between the tub and tire's sidewall...? (Looks like there might now be enough space for tire chains...)

Ciao,

My 1430 is about 1.5 years old and probably has the same size hydraulic oil filter. It's on really tight. I use a 5 inch band wrench and it works well. NAPA had the wrench in stock. The rubber seal is pressed into the top plate instead of the filter. It would be much easier for me to replace the seal if it was part of the filter.

Does anyone know if there is a Wix filter that cross references for the PT filter?

Good eye. 1/2" more space than the old tractor.

I think that it is on the parts thread; the 1445 and 18XX take the same suction filter. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/power-trac/267218-power-trac-parts-cross-reference.html
I think it is NAPA 1551 or WIX 51551, but the gaskets need to be ordered separately. See the threads. I've posted it a couple of times.

All the best,
Peter

Did I tell you my recent find in my filter box.

Ken S keeps me on my toes with these ebay and craigslist finds. Drives me crazy him spending my money like it was his. A few years ago he found a deal on 1551's Heck of a deal so he made me use my money and I now have (had) a dozen sitting in a box in my shelf

Well, January is oil changing time on the farm and I reached in and grabbed out one of the oil filters and it oddly looked rusted. I was just about to pour oil in the filter as well. Look again and low and behold a mouse had chewed through the wrapping plastic and had made a nice home in the center of my filter.

It was ruined.

Oh, as for putting the filter on. If your rubber ring stays up in the mount you are a lucky lucky person. I replace the ring on every change (My filters came with the ring, go figure). The ring never stays where I want it. Putting the filter on is an oily ugly mess.

The problem is that Carl keeps getting it wrong - he is supposed to ship everything to me in order to let me catch things like the mouse damage for him. (Carl, when I find a great deal on a CNC mill, send it to me and I will program it for you).

My filters always have come with gasket ring as well. I think I probably have a lifetime supply.

RegL,
Your new 1430 looks great! Since this 1430 replaces an older one you had I was wondering besides the differences you already noted how the new one compares to the older 1430? I know it just arrived but are the new changes to wheel motors, engine noticeably better? I've had a 425 for about 10 years and I really like it and have put it to good use on many different projects from just cutting grass, snowplowing, brush cutting, moving soil, rocks, etc and digging with the mini hoe. All has been pretty good but there have been times that I wish I had a little bit bigger, more powerful machine and maybe should have coughed up the extra dough and purchased the 1430. Considering taking advantage of the sale or perhaps buying a used 2006 1430 for sale. Would appreciate your input and/or other's experience, etc. Thanks!

The biggest difference I notice at the moment, is that my old 1430 is running and my new one is dead out in the woods getting buried with a foot and a half of snow.LOL. Saturday, after running for a couple hours, it decided to crap out. it was very cold and windy so I figured the fuel had jelled up. now I don't think so because after treating the fuel with diesel 9-1-1 in both the tank and the spin off filter, and heating things up with a propane heater, there's no change. The tractor will start intermittently and run for varying amounts of time before dieing. now I'm thinking there's some junk that's causing a fuel blockage somewhere. When I can get back to it I think I'll check the screen filter first and hope something stuck in there.

Shoot!!!!

Go with a can of air and a screw driver as well. Might be blocked in the tank. Canned air you can blow back up the hose.
