Installed my new R4 take offs today. I found this complete set on Machinefinder a couple weeks ago. Brand new with rims. They still have the rubber tips on them. Upgraded from the 19-5 R4's.

What's the upgrade? Are these larger/wider than the original R4's?

Did you get a good deal? That's a smart way to buy tires -- dealers do a lot of swapping around with new wheels and tires. Takes some time to find them but it's way better to buy a complete rim and tire!

Very cool!

Yes. I think so. $1700 for the complete set.

Yes. They're the larger R4's. These are the 43-16 x 20 rears. I had the 15-19.5's before. I had one rear rim with some Calcium rust that was getting kinda bad. New rim from Deere was around $500. So, I started looking for replacements when I came across this complete set from Akrs JD in Seward Nebraska on MachineFinder. Ian was great to work with and went the extra mile to get me a great deal. I am completely satisfied. I had the rims ceramic coated for protection. I think I'm going to load them with RimGuard.

Why does people use this old calcium that destroys metal ?

I’ve completely filled all 4 tires front & rear with a weak antifreeze mix and water in 7 JD 4&5k series tractors.

No rust & non corrosive.

No sure why. Cost maybe? I'm looking at rimguard or windshield washer fluid. Just starting checking pricing on rimguard. My JD dealer doesn't do it. They send you to Best One tire. The quoted price for RimGuard is $4.75 a gallon. That's if I bring tractor to them. More if they come to my house. WWS is between $109-130 for a 55 gallon drum.

Boy that rimguard would get expensive.

I added 20gals of AF to 70gals of water for each of my back R4 tires.

I think the fronts only held 36gals total.

I have a 110v liquid pump set up to fill mine.

I need the weight for traction & stability on steep banks here on my farm.

The ride is so much better too.

I have a pump and the adapter valve to fill mine also. I need the traction. My place is not flat either. Right now, i'm leaning toward the WWS because of price. I don't think the animals would drink it if I happen to get a puncture. I'd rather use RimGuard for that reason. I herd that Rural King sells RimGuard in bulk. I'm going to call them tomorrow to see.
