Why does Kioti have their ROPS fold this way instead of folding it tight against itself like NH?

Because this way, it's more noticeable that you don't have it the full up position, and maybe you'll be more likely to put it all the way up with that top part sticking out. John

Maybe. How far does it stick out the back? It looks like if you were to park it in a tight garage, you'd have to watch that you didn't hit something with it. It also seems that this design would put a lot more stress on the joint than if it were hanging straight down.

I hope no one takes this as bashing the tractor. I will be in the market for a new tractor in a couple of years, and the CK30 is one of the top two on the list right now. I am just curious about this one feature. Well, this one feature, as well as the merit of having the FEL hydraulic lines sticking up above the loader arm. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I sure don't take it that way. You asked a good, legitimate question. It doesn't stick far out and if you can get your tractor's rear end in, the ROPS isn't going to hit anything. As far as stress goes, you're talking about a very strong piece of metal, and the mounting is just as tough. The little stress that might be there wouldn't be nearly as much as turning the tractor over would cause, and they still hold up. So relax about that part.

Mine will fold against itself. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I don't want to do it now since the sunshade is on. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I do think it is foolish to have it stick out the back. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

With the naked eye, it looks like it only sticks out about 6 inches more than the 3 pt hitch arms. And it didn't seem heavy enough to cause any stress problems. Everything is still pretty heavy duty.

That's about what I figured it to be when I looked at them today. It does seem odd that it stops half way, but I kind of like it. It really seems that if you weren't really paying attention, you might think it's up if it folded in half, but not with it sticking out the back!
