you have wonderful skills to do that
skills of a machinist are so valuable

could you explain a little more about what that boring head does? other than look seriously impressive
I assume it's a tool holder of some sort

Boring heads can be a simple as a toolholder to hold a boring bar (cutter.)

The next step up is “adjustable” where you shut off spindle, turn a dial/key/nut to adjust the cutter out or in and re-commence w boring

The next step up, you don’t have to power off the spindle, just leave mill on and hold a ring or dial (like mine on the right side)

The next step up also has a “power feed” option and can be used for facing(most typically) so as the spindle turns the cutter advances outward

Mine does all of those things.

So to bore, get yourself centered, dial out until you start to make contact. Set your zero, dial out cut (this one can dial out 0.0005) then use quill or power feed on mill to bore, come back out of hole and dial out a bit more on head and bore again. No need to shut down etc

I am also much more of a hack than a machinist!

Also got a dead simplicity 2010 (tho I think it has a 16 in it)

no spark, I let it sit all summer. Jump pack to get the hydro lift to pick up the weed cutter and a helping hand by the “younger” machine into the shop

now it will get some attention.

Well, that time of year I guess.

As expected, bad “coil “ but I didn’t expect so much of a nest.

5 dead mice

Popped out motor, cleaned, converted to electronic (yes I reversed the new coil as it was a points flywheel) and popped back in. Good for another year!

BTW, in high school and a bit of college, I worked at a motorcycle shop that also worked on small engines. Mice nest are a big reason for motors getting burned up.

Well it is time to build the toy/tool barn.

This is my humble shop site
Scott's Shop

So the barn is 50x60. The rear metal shop is about 25x30. Above that metal shop will be the wood shop. The rest of the space will go floor to rafters, all open (for automotive work etc). Rear right corner behind beam is welding and fab. Upper woodshed will have stair and a garage door for access to use forklift to lift larger projects and tools up there. We will have 3phase and 110/220.
Here goes...
