Well, I debated about it for a while but I finally bought a mulcher head that mounts to a skid steer. Looking through some "project" posts, I can see where it definitley would be usefull. I believe it is the best thing going for clearing udergrowth and brush. Even small trees. I've read where others have had dozers come in only to push up and leave the debris which has to be burned, buried, chipped, or hauled off. With this head, I can mulch up to 6" trees. There is only mulch left behind. I believe this is the best way to go when clearing overgrown pastures, clearing fence row's, survey lines, or even clearing lots for buildings. The difference it makes in the properties appearance is amazing and could even help some people sell their property. I am excited about it. It's nice to look back and see what a difference it can make. Hope it holds up well, but I will take good care of it.

Hey Rutwad - Sounds great!

Where are you located? and are you for hire?

I'm sure alot of people on here could use a service such as this, as most can not afford that type of investment for personal, one-time use

We also like pictures (hint hint) :)

It's an FAE brand attachment. It is rated to effeciently cut 3" trees with capacities for 6". Salesman say you can cut larger, but that is what it is advertised for.

I'll get some pics maybe tomorrow.

Looks like it will take care of a bigger tree than 6". I bet the vibration level is pretty high. Looks like ear plugs and safety glasses are also in order.

Actually it is pretty quiet. Enclosed, insulated cab. It's nice!

It does an impressive job with amazing results. Customers are usually happily suprised with the results. I think many people are unaware of the potential it has and cost saving benefits compared to other clearing methods. It has ALOT of uses. I just need to get my name out there and build up some customers.

Just a few facts about the tractor. There aren't many SS bigger than a RC-100. That's 100 horsepower and 304 torque. ASV's are made to handle the heat that's why most mulcher manufacturers recomend ASV's. A few other Manf. are stepping up there tractors to compete but from what I've seen an ASV was manf. from the beginning to run high flow hyd. continuiously without a problem. I've run mine for 4 hours straight in 90 plus temps with the a/c an no temp problems. Mulching on... Robbie

That thing is scarry looking. How does it do on brush/grass? I have been looking into a flail mower but this thing looks like it might be better. I have a lot of shrubs (1-3" diameter) that this looks like it might work better.

Yeah, I got to get me an ASV with a mulcher. 50 acres of Hawthorne (AKA Thornapple), Mountain Floral Rose, Blackberry Bushes, Wild Grape and scrub trees are choking out my wood lot. With a bit of effort and that set-up, I could turn that 50 acres into a productive mixed hardwood pine forest and make some money for my retirement in 20+ years. If I do nothing, well then I will have nothing. Even if I do not harvest the timber in my time owning the property, the resale value with a productive wood lot will jump dramatically. Added bonus of cutting paths for the wife and daughter to ride their horses! When mama is happy EVERYBODY is happy.
