I see that 71Bronco has a chain for added support I am not sure if mine needs one, what do you think? I have a hook near the swivel but believe the rotation would twist the chain. Do you reattach the chain when you manually turn your blade?

Your blade is fixed to the adaptor plate. his is pinned so the chain is supporting the front/ weight of the plow.

His plow will float over the contour of the ground with the loader arms stationary.
With yours you will have to engage the float feature of the loader valve to allow the loader arms to move up and down with the plow over uneven terrain.

I was trying to just find a plow on CL with the thought of buying an adapter plate and welding it up solid untill I found this one. I never thought of hooking it up like this but I think I'll like it better this way. It does stick out quite a ways though and I think I'm going to need some ballast. I have a 55 gal drum to fill with concrete and add a few goodies like a receiver hitch,Chainsaw scabbard, places for chains and gas and oil. I will also put in some pipe for hand tools. Do you guys think that is enough weight for a 3240? I'll probably fill all but 4 or 5 inches of the barrel. Any other ideas?

I also started welding on my boom for the loader. I mounted it to the receiver hitch on top of the bucket and it rests on the lip on the bottom. I'll take some pics if anybody wants to see it.

I'd say you made a great buy!

I just finished building a FEL plow for my tractor. I used an old Meyer ST80" plow starting point and made a JD QA compatible frame to connect it to my JD tractor. I just added new hydraulic cylinders, crossover valve and hoses with QD couplers to attach to my tractor hydraulics.....and added a tube over the blade edge for gravel driveways. Just finished with a sandblast and paint job.

I had hoped to keep my cost under $750.....but ended up spending nearly $1000. complete. So....I'd say you made a great deal. Here's a few pics of mine ready for mounting to the tractor. I'm going to take my blade "up north" to mount on my tractor next week. Hope it all fits right. :)

You did good on the blade. I've been watching for something like that since last winter and haven't come across a decent used one in my area.

To put your purchase in perspective, I was quoted $2300 for a new 7' quick-attach loader mount blade with swing cylinders by a local dealer.

Foggy, I like how you mounted the frame on the backside of the QA plate so it doesn't stick out so far. Let us know how it works out on the tractor if you could.

I like the skid pipe on the bottom, I have limstone drive, did you make it or is there a way to buy one?

I had one made by a local welding shop. He uses a plasma torch. He said he could slit a pipe like mine for other folks - the cost would be from $75 to $100 depending on the diameter and length of the pipe. (plus shipping) PM me if you want his contact info.
