Jim,

Please see my post on the JD buying/pricing forum on my 4310 experience to date. We both need to keep others informed; it may help consumers in general. Hang in there.

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

Spencer200, I wasn't trying to say that transportation should be offered in all cases. This tractor was not right from day one. This has been more like a nightmare for Jim. I remember the posts starting on day one with this tractor. Maybe NH should look at this tractor a bit more to find out why all this stuff is happening. You mentioned raising prices to cover transportation costs like the car companies do. I guess you've got a point there, but $15,000, to $20,000 is already a lot of money. $150 to trailer this tractor to the shop is a drop in the bucket when you look at that number. Thanks for being upfront, and giving us the dealer side. I've noticed how you help people on here all the time. Thanks Kent

If it is even possible, I am sorrier about your problems than I am about my own. I haven't seen any threads like ours in Orangeland ...

Progress Report

Happy 4th of July, everyone. Here's to remembering and celebrating the significance of Independence Day.

I have progress to report on Thor.

First, I spoke with the rep from New Holland today after she left a message on my home machine yesterday asking me to call her. She had spoken with my salesman at the dealer, and he told her that he has had everything that has been promised boxed up and ready to ship ever since the first week of April. He told her that he has held the shipment because he has not been able to get a repair manual. He has promised the rep that he will ship what is there right away, and ship the manual when he gets it. To me, this is good progress, with two caveats: That he is actually expecting the manual and will ship it when he gets it; *and* gosh darn it, had he responded to my faxes (after the phone calls turned up only promises and no action) - even a message on the answering machine to let me know what he was up to, this part of it would never have made it to NH. That assumes, though, that he is being truthful with the rep. I will give the benefit of the doubt.

Second, I heard from the local dealer today. Not much information - just to let me know that the cracked headlight surround would cost $190 if I wanted to replace it. It was cracked when delivered, but I took delivery in the dark (literally) and didn't see the damage to report it to the truck driver. I didn't report it to the carrier when I found it the next day, either. My mistake - I'll live with the cracked light. It's good to know, though, that NH is making parts out of quality materials. Where else can you get a headlight lens made of diamonds and trimmed in gold?!?

Well, that's it for now - I'll write again when I hear "the rest of the story" from the local dealer. Again, to everyone - have a happy, safe, and reflective Independence Day.

Regards,

Jim

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

UPDATE:

Got home last night, found a box at the front door that contained several items (two cans of blue paint, one of white, and two bucket hooks) and next to the box was a spare FEL guard. Still MIA is the repair manual ... still waiting for that. I'm not sure why the paint was shipped in that configuration, we had agreed on one can of blue and one can of gray ... but this is better than nothing and I can just buy a can of gray and be done with it.

I talked to the local dealer today (who has been extraordinarily supportive even though I didn't buy the tractor from him) and Thor will be back on the job Friday. He told me that all repairs are under warranty, and that Thor would have been back today if the MMM belt had been delivered as expected. He thinks for sure it will be there tomorrow - thus the promise of delivery on Friday.

So my out-of-pocket on this will be $150 for the ride to and from the shop plus the cost of a can of gray paint. I've lost a lot of confidence in the selling dealer, and some confidence in Thor. Thor can earn that back over time - the selling dealer cannot. I've also gained a positive experience with the local dealer, and confidence in his willingness to be there for me when I need help.

All in all, I surely wish it hadn't happened in the first place; but, the financial ding is relatively small compared to how much I saved by buying over a distance, and I've now established a good relationship with the local dealer. Thus ends this episode in "Thor's Big Adventure."

Thanks, everyone, for letting me vent and for your words of support as everything unfolded.

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

Don't blame the dealer for the delay on those manuals...New Holland's publications operations suck bigtime. My dealer wouldn't even order them, told me to order them myself because they didn't want the grief. After dealing with NH I couldn't blame them.

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

Jim, I'm glad to hear you'll soon be back in business. I think a good relationship with dealers are very important, and it sound like you now have one. I'm happy to hear that most stuff was covered by warranty. I still say these tractor are quality, and I'm sure Thor will gain your trust back. Good Luck, Kent

Kent:

Thanks! I can't wait to get back in the seat ... it rained hard a couple of days ago, the temperature is down, and it's beautiful out there. Three weeks of growth are calling!
