Progress Report
Happy 4th of July, everyone. Here's to remembering and celebrating the significance of Independence Day.
I have progress to report on Thor.
First, I spoke with the rep from New Holland today after she left a message on my home machine yesterday asking me to call her. She had spoken with my salesman at the dealer, and he told her that he has had everything that has been promised boxed up and ready to ship ever since the first week of April. He told her that he has held the shipment because he has not been able to get a repair manual. He has promised the rep that he will ship what is there right away, and ship the manual when he gets it. To me, this is good progress, with two caveats: That he is actually expecting the manual and will ship it when he gets it; *and* gosh darn it, had he responded to my faxes (after the phone calls turned up only promises and no action) - even a message on the answering machine to let me know what he was up to, this part of it would never have made it to NH. That assumes, though, that he is being truthful with the rep. I will give the benefit of the doubt.
Second, I heard from the local dealer today. Not much information - just to let me know that the cracked headlight surround would cost $190 if I wanted to replace it. It was cracked when delivered, but I took delivery in the dark (literally) and didn't see the damage to report it to the truck driver. I didn't report it to the carrier when I found it the next day, either. My mistake - I'll live with the cracked light. It's good to know, though, that NH is making parts out of quality materials. Where else can you get a headlight lens made of diamonds and trimmed in gold?!?
Well, that's it for now - I'll write again when I hear "the rest of the story" from the local dealer. Again, to everyone - have a happy, safe, and reflective Independence Day.
Regards,
Jim
