Phred:

Thanks for the note. I would like to agree with you - it is the dealer on this one. I sincerely hope that this is the case and that these issues get resolved so I can make good satisfying use of the tractor for a long time to come. I am being as patient as I can waiting to hear from NH - each day that passes makes me more nervous. To add to things, it is warm, muggy, and rainy here - perfect growing weather. The longer the tractor is out of commission, the tougher it is going to be to get things back under control.

Progress Report:

A rep from NH Customer Service, called this morning. I am stuck with the transportation charge. She is contacting the selling dealer to attempt to get all of the promised material shipped to me. She expects that all repairs should be under warranty, and asked me to contact her if they aren't.

The folks from the local dealer will arrive Friday at 4 p.m. to give Thor his $150 ride.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

Jim,

Sorry you get caught with the transport costs but I guess NH can't force the dealer to do the right thing, which sounds like in this case would be to wave the transport cost.

If your dealer is going to hit you with that kind of cost it might be worth while to get your own trailer. It would not take many trips over the years to add up to a nice trailer to go with that tractor.

Good luck.

Years ago I use to play the trombone. I had a real nice trombone with an F attachment. Now I fear I could not even make credible dying moose calls with one since it has been almost twenty years./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I still get out the horn every once in a while. It sounds awful for 5 minutes, great for a half hour, and then the chops are gone. What kind of trombone did you have? Conn 88H?

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

I paid 1600 and some change for a new tandem axle car hauler 16', nice wood deck, hd ramps, electric breaks and break away actuator. Think of that as eleven trips with the tractor, and it will have paid for itself... no to mention the other things you can do with a big trailer. I used to buy hay 6 bales at a time, and paid premium for them. Now with the trailer, I can haul over 50 bales easy, and get a better price to boot.

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

Jim, So New Holland sold you, a tractor that they say needs repairs, and you are paying for transportation ($150). Now I'm upset with them. When you buy a car from dealer that is covered, do you pay for a loaner car? Or if it breaks down on the road do you pay for towing? First off you paid for this tractor in good faith. You bought something that should last you a lifetime. And you paid the price for it. Maybe its time for the forum to use its muscle? We've got plenty of people here , who bought Hew Holland tractors, that can stand behind you. I'll email New Holland tonight, if it helps you get this problem resoluted. Sorry I just look at the other side of this type of thing. What if I was the guy , who bought a tractor in this kind of shape? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Kent

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

Hi Kent:

I appreciate the sentiment, and the offer of action. Yes, I am stuck with the transport charge - the woman at New Holland referred to the warranty exclusion of transportation several times during our two conversations.

The tractor gets picked up at 4 p.m. tomorrow. I will give the local dealer a fair chance to get things right. He's done nothing wrong in this whole sordid affair - in fact, if it weren't for him I am not sure where I'd turn for repair. I expect all of the repair work to be covered under warranty. If it is not, then we have a problem.

My mistake was convincing myself in the beginning that if New Holland lets someone be a dealer for them, that the dealer must meet some minimum-but-high standard; and, that buying from a dealer long distance would thus not put me in peril. I keep reminding myself that I saved well over three thousand dollars doing things this way, and then trying to convince myself that $150 and not getting everything agreed to in the sale to save $3000+ is a fair trade. I know better though. Right is right, and wrong is wrong, and the taste of this deal is bitter, indeed.

Thanks again for the support. It means more to me than you might imagine. I'll keep everyone abreast of how things unfold.

Regards,

Jim

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

Read your warranty form Transportation to the dealership is not covered by New Holland. You are responsible for getting your tractor to the dealership for repairs. I suppose they could raise the price of the tractor and cover this cost for you like the car companies have done. This is a point not worth getting steamed about try as I can I have never gotten New Holland to cover transportation cost to the dealership not even when there is a major malfunction. Most good dealers cover this cost on there own.

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

Spencer200,

I like the pricing where it is thanks. Allot of us may not see that small print as we are excited with the purchase and not thinkning about the first warranty issue.

Since I am still leaning toward Blue on my purchase I have kept one thing in mind. I will pay a little more for piece of mind. My local dealer, who I found mentioned here on the boards (Main & Pickney in Auburn NY) told me that they pick and return at no charge for warranty work. Not bad especially for one like me who isn't mechanically inclined.

Re: New TC25D Falling Apart and I\'m Angry

With a good dealer the salesmen would explain this point to you during the paper work process like we do. We tell our customers right up front that New Holland does not cover transportation cost for warranty work but we take care of it for them. We also usually cover transportation cost on service work that is not warrantied at least for the first year.
