Yours is just another case TimT- I honestly don't think it's misuse or improper setup on the 1000's, maybe more the day of the week the machine was built, or more correctly the day of the week the hydro or PTO clutch from its supplier was built. They do look awesome, and have great credentials for machines in their price range and I think Cub really wants them to excel- which they should, but people are getting them and after a few hours of use they are having serious problems and people shrugging their shoulders at the problems as to who is supposed to do what?
A good dealer is a pot of gold, I've said that many times and those are the people to support and buy from, you made the right move there Tim. Seems though that MTD is not fully supporting their CC dealer network though, only seeing the $$$ at the top by selling the attractive CC's through the box stores (possibly at discount prices) then using the dealers to solve all the problems that come up with them. That is where the complaints start rolling in, and yes JD dealers are having this same problem too with the low end LT's. But.... and a BIG but... the high end JD garden tractors are NOT sold through box stores, yet one can buy the highest end CC 3000 series at TSC and I think HD too. It seems JD plays it more on the level with dealers and the box store sales, yet MTD will cut any throat.
