Well I am sick of my old equipment. I mow about 9 acres mainly level horse pastures and my yard. I also have need to mound up manure and drag a ring or two. All of my mowing is in the open. I started to look at the zero turns and then I saw the 2210 . Seems like I could use it for mowing and my loader work. The three point hitch is nice as well.
Anyone own one that can give me some real life limitations or words of wisdom. Something tells me I may be underbuying in the tractor part, perhaps even the mowing. The good thing is the dealer is willing to trade on all my old equipment , including an ancient Ford 3000and bushog and an old cub cadet . He has a used one (repro) with 9 hours, lists it at 11K which includes the 54 inch mower deck. He also has all of the zero turns which are quite nice, but then I am stuck with "mower only" Advice?

Wow...I can't imagine mowing 9 acres with anything smaller than a 5-foot mower or cutter. How much of it is frequent finish mowing and how much pasture mowing? Do you need a rotary cutter? Lots of 2210 owners will comment, but I think you are limited to 4-foot for a brush hog and 5 foot for a finish mower (belly or rear). The 2210 will do all that much better than the other mowers you are looking at, plus handle your loader chores. But you know that already ... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif i loved my 2210 and love my 4110 just a little better and bigger. The 2210 sounds like its in the value range you are looking at.

With 9 acres to mow and some serious FEL work, I'd consider something bigger than a sub-CUT. I'm not sure of the JD series, but, something like the 41xx (I think), or the equivalent to the Kubota B series tractors.

Just IMHO.

thanks for the info, I do not finish mow 7 of the 9, The bush hog I am using now is 6 foot.
I figure the 54 or 60 inch mid mount mower surely can handle 2 acres or so. My problem will be that I cannot afford the bush hog attachment right now and may have to touch up the horse pastures with the mid mount. Is this possible, keeping it at maximum cut hieght 5.5 -6 inches?
what kind of weight can the 3 point raise, I guess the bucket without counter weights is 600???
Does the price seem fair, at nine hours I guess it is basically new.
Thanks again

Panman,

The 2210 is a great tractor. If you do end up with one, I highly recommend the 62C MMM instead of the 54. It will give you better overlap, as well as cover real estate better. The deck can cut at the height's you mention. The 3PH is rated at 700 lbs lift capacity. It lifts my ballast box full of concrete quite easily. As far as I know the rear mowers available are the 48" LX4 and the 261 and 272 3PT mowers. The 210 loader is nicely matched to the tractor. My only question to you would be at some point are you going to want to do more with the other acreage? If so, though the 2210 would work albeit more slowly, you may really want a bigger tractor.

If you're looking for FEL heft, go with the 4010 or 4110 with 410 loader. It'll lift 850 # vs. only 650 # with the 2210.

I'm quite sure the 4010 will drive a 60" MM. My 12 hp Gravely is used by some Gravely club folks with a 50" mowing deck. The 4010 would drive it with it high like you're talking about. My LX4 48" bush hog is absolutely no strain at all on it. I'd almost like to go over to my neighbor's and hitch up her 6' bush hog and see how it'll do on level ground with tall grass. Think it's too much weight for the 1400 # (same as 2210) tractor on hills.

The 4010 will really haul a load in its FEL. I moved 19.5 tons of #5 gravel recently with mine. Think it'll hold somewhere between 0.35 to 0.4 yard of gravel. A 0.5 yard is 1,000 #, figure it's closer to 0.4 yard with the bucket chock full like I was able to get it most loads.

how big of a rear PTO mower can the 2210 handle? Bush hog type
Can the FEL pick up heavier loads with back weights?
As far as the MMM 62inch can this mow down some taller (all grass) areas without a lot of belt issues?
Any comments on the zero turn and using it for pasture mowing?
So many decisions, so little time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What is the MAX height that the 54MMM can reach,
When I went to the dealer the knob only turned to 4
What gives? It had a decal that indicated 5.5 inches

I'm also new to the forums. I have a 2210 with a 48" RFM and the FEL. I love the 2210, and have not really found anything it can't do, although the limitation on the FEL of 650 LBS is a problem if you have to work a lot of heavy loads. The ballast in the rear is not needed to get to the limits of the FEL, it is to keep the rig stable with anything over 150 lbs or so in the FEL.

I am keeping about 3 acres of horse pasture, and it is perfect for my use. I usually use the 48" RFM as my ballast when I need to work something heavy with the FEL.

I also got the JD I-Match quick hitch. At first I was not happy with it as my intention was to be able to hook up the RFM or spreader quickly and conveniently. The I-Match will not work with the RFM in the RFM's stock arrangement. I fixed that by "reversing" the upper pick-up on the RFM, and now use a short section of chain to go back to the quick hitch. It lets the RFM float as it should, but I can still pick it up with the 3-point when needed. Now I am very happy with the quick hitch, I can hook up the RFM in less than one minute. Overall, I think the 2210 is a wonderful small rig...

<font color="green">It is likely the height adjustment linkage needs adjusting. A common problem on 2210s.

The knob should spin a full 360 degrees.

The Operators Manual tells you how to make the simple adjustment.
