Be very careful when you adjust this. The 3 pt hitch can do a number on the adjustment rod if it is not done properly. I know, I bought a second one.

panman,

Wow, a lot of questions. Good. I like to see that. As for your first two, the largest RFM that I know of for the 2210 is the 272, or 72" and the 210 loader is rated for 620 lbs, but trust me, with proper ballast, it lifts waaay more than that.

It seems to me that you're about at the try me out stage. Why don't you do that -- preferrably on your property -- and get a feel for what is really important to you? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Okay, here's my two cents; With or without rear ballast the 2210's loader will lift the same. It all depends on your "thrill tolerance" for lifting the rear end off the ground. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifhaha. I find the rear blade is not enough weight, the rear tiller is about the right weight. I recommend you get a weight box and/or wheel weights. I have done a LOT of excavating around here including rocks. you can easily lift a bucket full of dirt as high as you dare. (always drive with the buckett waaaaay down low for safety) However you can lift more than the rated 620lbs if you insist with the bucket curl but you will not be able to lift such a load. You can curl and push waaaaaay more than 620 if you keep all four wheels pushing. As far as mowing... for finish mowing 2 acres you should be fine with the 54". I have found that finish mowing with my 62" mid mower the 2210 has plenty of surplus power and wouldn't' be surprised if she could handle a 72" mid mower as long as I'm just lopping off the tops of the grass. Just touching up a pasture you should have power enough for a 5 foot "hog" or even 6 foot. the trouble is the terrain and the weight of the mower on the rear of the tractor. FYI you should know the three point requires the insertion of a cross bar to lift the mid mower. I have Imatch which avoids this . Price? sounds reasonable. I got my spanking new 'package' for a hair over $14k including a blade and a tiller, 62"mmm, and loader

Today I experienced the max lift capability of the 210 FEL. While excavating the lower 40 I pulled out a rock that was larger than would fit completely in my 53" bucket. By jockeying it around, I was able to lift and curl it up, but never more than ~ 2" off the ground. I might add that I first tried to pick it up without the ballast box, but all that did was lift the rear of the tractor off the ground! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif When I get a chance, I'll get my neighbor to grab the rock with his big Deere; he has a scale, it will be interesting to see what the rock weighs. My take is that the tractor and hydraulics would have lifted it, but that there is somekind of pressure relief valve that it kept hitting. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

you all are great. I have not been back to post because I have been using the 2210 on "loan" this weekend. Spent over 5 hours in the seat and put her through the paces. Never flinched and I love it. Probably her to stay now.
I was a bit taken by the small fuel tank and quick usage, although I did mow at nearly full go for several hours.
I have a friend that wants to get rid of a 5 foot three point "rascle Bush Hog" I am trying to figure out its weight and if it would be safe behind this Deere?
ANy thoughts on that?

Panman,

I'm not sure anyone answered your question about topping your pastures at 5.5" with a MMM. I'm in a similar situation. I've got 5.5 ares of pasture and 1.5 acres of lawn to mow and all I can afford, if I'm lucky, is a 62" MMM. I read a lot of responses about why it is NOT advisable to mow brush with a MMM, but I don't know why I couldn't regularly mow my pasture GRASS with the MMM. I'm not talking about clearing an overgrown field of brambles and small saplings and I would be mowing the pasture at 5.5 inches regularly. I imagine if I let the pasture grass get a couple of feet tall it wouldn't be too good for the MMM. I was figuring on mowing the lawn and pasture every week or two (gotta justify the tractor purchase /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif). Does anyone have any feedback for my situation?

Anjou,

I don't see why you couldn't do that. I think the reluctance to recommend using the MMM is in reference to using it as a brush hog, cutting saplings and who knows what else. The MMM is an expensive attachment and everyone would hate to destroy it with the wrong use. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Anjou-
You'll have to make the decision for yourself as to what you're comfortable mowing with your MMM. With that said, the 62c is not a delicate little flower. My lawn is more like a pasture and less like a golf course. What are the differences between your lawn and your pasture? I mow when grass is tall, I'm mindfull of rocks and "big" sticks and have not had a problem.

There isn't much difference between my lawn and my pasture. Prior to my purchase, all 7 acres was used as a hayfield. About an acre of ground was disturbed during excavation/grading operations related to the construction of my house and 175’ driveway. This area was reseeded with TSC Horsemax mix (a grass/clover combo). There are actually parts of my lawn that are identical to the pasture. I guess the big differences would be the presence of more weeds (not woody brush) and abandoned woodchuck holes /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif in the pasture. The pasture grasses also tend to be coarser and have thicker stems. The woodchuck holes are a nasty hazard, so I’ll be marking and avoiding them (whether I’m mowing or not) until I can get them filled in. The lawn is nearly as bumpy as the pasture. In the attached photo, you can see what happens by Memorial Day without mowing (note that I am standing on the neighbor's property and my house on the hill is not present because this is a preconstruction photo).

Wow, a hair over $14k is a steal for a 2210 w/FEL, blade, tiller, and 62" MMM! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'd love to get my dealer down to that price for a 2005 package like you've got (w/o a rear blade, though). I'm assuming you have a 2004 model (when steel prices were cheaper).
