New to me 1802D.. Looking for information.

I've never seen a YMxx01, YMxx02, YMxx10, or YMxx20 without a water pump, although the YM1110 is a model I have not yet sold, and it may have the older style engine. Certainly the smaller YMxx00's do not have pumps. We mainly sell 3 and 4 cylinder Yanmars, so I am a little out of my area of expertise when speeking of the 2-cylinder models. Good comment about the percentage of anti-freeze. If it is too high, the collant will not cycle properly.

I have only been lucky enough to play on the 2 cyl models... Maybee eventually I'll get another one.. perhaps a 3cyl... I'll have to get used to the smoother running engine of the 3cyls.. instead of the yammerhammer of the 2cyl's.

There is nothing at all wrong with the 2-cylinders, they just don't do well in my California market. I have an FX42D with a 4-cylinder turbo diesel...talk about smooth!!!!!

My 1802D does have a water pump. Well at least it looks like a water pump to me.. Does anyone know what the napa cross refrence filter for this tractor is? The guy I bought it from told me that it used the same filter as the JD750. I picked one up at napa today. It looks to be pretty close but would like confirmation before I take the old one off and drain the oil. Also where the heck is the drain plug on these things?

Most of the 2cyl have water pumps.

Chadd, the oil filters that I use are the fram PH3593A
for the oil.
the drain plug is under the engine on the side of the oil pan
Yes the 1820 has a water pump
You can buy a manual from Leonard Sheaffer.

You will like the tractor I also have a 1802D great little tractor , the only thing I have chage is to put truf(ans) tire on the back.. wish I had the loader

Many dealers out there, including myself and a couple others in this thread handle the Koyker loaders. Buy yourself one for Christmas, make it red, put a bow on it! You can then haul all the rest of the presents in the bucket, bring up firewood, keep the driveway clear....

To my knowledge, the YM1110/YM1101 is the only YMxx01/YMxx10/YMxx02/YMxx20 that does not have a water pump. The YM1110, YM1101, and the YM2210 are the only tractors of the YMxx01/YMxx10 with 2 cylinder engines. The 2210 does have a water pump.

Of the older YMxx00 series of tractors (mostly 2 cyl), the YM2000 is the smallest with a water pump. Incidentally, I think the YM2000 water pump will install on a YM1700, but don't take my word for it - check into it carefully before trying as water pumps are really expensive.

I can answer the question about installing a water pump on a YM1700 because I have done it. The YM2000 water pump will work on a YM1700, however, you do need the pump mount, 2 new hoses, and a few misc. parts (bolts, washers, clamps, etc.). Takes about 2 hours, not really all that hard.
