Well now,
Seems I missed the end of this thread. Sorry about that everyone. Congrats on the new tractor SMP 22 and welcome to the club. Now you are inducted here is rule number 2; he who dies with the most cool implements wins. (Rule number one is; A man without land is nothing...apologies to Mr Kravitz).
About ice...a heavy duty chain harrow does the trick here. We have had an increasing amount of ice here over the last decade so something had to be done. Salt and grit in a 3 pt spreader is a nice idea until you try and handle the material yourself. Ask anyone here who plows and spreads for a living.
So, a heavy chain harrow on the aggressive side dragged over the driveway several times roughens up the surface nicely. If you bought Trygg chains for your tractor they will also scarify the surface well. If it gets to sheet ice with rain or meltwater on top I recommend a stay at home day or calling a guy with a spreader on his truck. Probably cost about $75.
Cheers
