I think you're right. Kubota needs to update their site:

B2650HSD
B2650HSDC

Tractordata.com has it right though:
Weight - 1786 to 2293 pounds

On the topic of weight. The leeching bed for the septic is under the lawn. How much weight do you folks figure is safe not just for the lawn, but for the leeching bed as well?
I think I read somewhere to keep it under 2000 lbs if being used as a mower. The previous/current owner's JD comes in at 1865 lbs. Based on that I'm guessing the 2650 will be fine in stock trim. Adding the loader pushes it up past 2000 lbs though and the PO's JD did not have a loader. Am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks,
Steve

I think your looking at the right size tractor for what you described your uses as. I love having a smaller tractor for what I use it for on my 5 acres. If the yard is a little soft and you want to mow and there will be times it will be if it is your primary mower. I want to go out on it with my tractor it is the difference between a 1 inch rut and a 2 or 3 inch rut. Start with a blade since it is cheaper and if it isn't sufficient go to a blower. You may want both eventually.

Leach beds are generally deep.. should not be a worry at all.

Sounds like you average about the same amount of snow as I do here in Mass. Truthfully, I do most of my driveway clearing with my company Dodge 2500 with 8' blade on it. There really is nothing better than sitting in a heated cab with some tunes going and clearing snow instead of freezing sitting on a tractor or walking behind a snow blower. Plus the truck handles large amounts of snow better than a tractor can, we have had some monster seasons over the past few years (back to back 30"+ storms). My B1550 struggled to get out of the barn on those. Once i got it out I did use it to stack and cut away at some of the banks I made with the truck. The added benefit of a truck with a plow on it, you can clear your driveway, get to work, and maybe clear a couple of neighbors driveways to make back your fuel money for the week!

I am in the process of getting rid of my B1550 and stepping up to either a B2601 or BX25D. I only have about 2 acres to take care of, but am trying to justify the added size of the 2601 for all the projects I have coming up......

Hi All. I'm a little closer. I found a used B2620 for a nice price, it's basically brand new - 12 hours. Thing is, it's been sitting for a couple of years. It's on a dealer's lot and was a repo.

What should I be looking out for? Dealer says there is warranty until July 2017, so there's still some coverage left.

What do you folks think? I would be saving $5000 over a new B2601 outfitted with the same attachments. (this is based on after tax pricing and quotes - not guesswork and bias ;) )

edit: "attachments" = FEL and rear mount blower.

If it was such a good deal, i wonder why it's still there.

The deal certainly seems sweet.
In an earlier post you mentioned liking the Mahindra dealer but implied you had little time to make a judgement call on the Kubota dealer. As many have pointed out, your relationship with the local dealer, especially service and parts as opposed to sales, can be a most important consideration. You said you were fine with automotive wrenching, but tractors are diesel, not gasoline, and have hydraulics. Expect to be using the dealer for advice and the experience you have yet to acquire.

A lot of the time folks either like new or (prob more common) like the zero interest. If the used machine is what you want and the finances aren't an issue jump on it!

I looked for about 9 months before pulling the trigger. I watched all the online places that sold used machines and was willing to travel for a deal.....I ended up purchasing a new machine. Finding a used machine that was in good shape and the model you want and reduced in cost to make purchasing used worth it and from a reputable dealer who is standing behind it and and and....go for it!!

This is a different Kubota dealer than the one I originally went to, yes they are further away (but closer to where I'm living now). The warranty expires in July 2017 so after that I'll be paying regardless of which dealer I take it to for service. From what I'm reading around here though, there shouldn't really be any reason to have to take it in? Unless of course things break but these are supposed to be reliable machines built to last. They aren't selling the new ones with 3000 hours of coverage because they don't have faith in them, right?

It's over $5,000... it's actually over $6000 as quoted because the new machine was quoted with a quick attach bucket. The used machine just has the standard bucket. Not a deal breaker for me. This is basically a 25% discount vs new, with 12.5 hours.

Jump on it. You are correct with regards to Kubota's reputation. Plus you have almost a year of warranty anyway. I wouldn't pay $5000 for a longer warranty.

I bet you will eventually add a QA plate to convert that bucket. It's under $1000 and can be done any time. The variety of loader QA tools/toys has come a long ways and something folks enjoy having.

A "B" series feels right to me for what i would want if i was living in the snow-belt, but with a snowblower up front and a blade in the back! I had a B 1700 and a Grand L for lawn maintenance and snow removal, but if you dont benefit having a FEL, you may just want to take a look at the F series 4X4, which i have now. It makes short work cutting grass and the snow blower is awesome, throwing snow 70 feet. (When i had the B and L, i found myself running out of places to pile snow). The blower is also faster then the FEL in my opinion.

I put a deposit down on the used Kubota B2620 today. It has 12 hours on it and comes with a FEL and post hole digger. It was a repo. I'm going to try to get by with the FEL for this first winter and see how I do. If I need to, I'll buy a blade or snowblower. Buying the mower in the spring. First rule of accounting, delay expenses :)

It's being delivered to the new house the day after we move in which I'm happy about. They're going to give it the 50 hour service before sending it out - it's a 2014 so it's spent most of it's life sitting. Starts right up and idles nicely though so I don't think there are any issues and there is factory warranty left until July 2017. It looks new save for the rust spots on the three point hitch where the paint rubbed off.

I really like the newer ones (B2601) but the deal was too good to pass up. I essentially saved 5k vs new.
I'll be around to bother you all with questions about attachments and how to work the thing, I'm sure. Thanks for all the advice!
