I know a tiny little bit but there is so much to know about welding and filler metals that there is nobody on the planet that knows everything. One thing I forgot to mention is that NR 211 is an E71T-11 wire and is designed for single or multi-pass welding. There is another similar wire, that I don't even know why they make it, E71T-GS. It is sold just about everywhere but is only designed for single pass welding which further limits what you can use it on. Lincoln has some special purpose Innershield wires for single pass welding but they aren't just sitting on the shelf for anyone to buy like the GS wire. I'm not sure what the GS stands for but in my opinion it could stand for gullible souls or generally _hitty. Maybe for thin material and galvanized steel that only needs 1 pass it's OK but for a general purpose wire, the T-11 would be a better all around choice in my opinion. Unless of course you needed a wire for welds under a lot of stress. Then you'd want T-8 Innershield wire but they can be quite expensive. This brings into play why it's good to have a wire feed welder that can also run shielding gas. With shielding gas you have the option to run solid wire MIG or Dual-shield which are both designed for welds under stress but a lot less expensive to buy than the T-8 self shielding wires.
