Wow, Mike. What are you going to do with your other three Kubotas, and what are you going to pull with the new baby?

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

Mike, have fun with your new baby too!!

Glenn, I decided that it wasn't important to manuever the tractor/loader in the barn. I tried to imagine what my needs would be in the future and concluded I could do much more, much faster with the L series. Plus I'm a bigger frame guy so the Grand L series felt a lot more comfortable to me. With work boots on I don't think I could have operated the B2910 HST. I figured I'd just go ahead and get the tractor I would probably trade up to in a few years anyway.

Glenn,I'm going to sell or trade, whatever comes first, our G1900S and our B2710,have come up with a Rhino Turf Flex finish mower.I demoed the mower this past Monday and ran over 7 acres in an hour and 40 minutes.I'm trying to cut our mowing time in half, and get back to a two tractor family. As much as I enjoy the seat time, with a 6 year old thats in T-Ball,Soccer,Swimming lessons,Basket Ball and soon to be Flag Football, spare time is a precious commodity.Soo,when I get everything together I'll post some pics.

Richard,

I chose the Kubota because of overall feel of the tractor, price, dealer attitude, dealer proximity. I felt I could deal with this guy where the JD and NH dealers were standoffish and seemed to be going through the motions instead of interested in selling me a tractor. This wouldn't have mattered as much if I never had to go back for repairs, warranty work, maintenence etc. I couldn't see having a tractor and dreading the service experience or any other dealer interaction from the get go.

I really liked the JD 43 and 4400 and NH 33D. They're fine tractors but my experience with the those dealers didn't make me even want to come back and get to know the tractor better.

I also got quotes from Carver's and Tractorsmart which I appreciated and considered ordering one that way for a while. The benefits of the local dealership was too great and they basically matched the price of the others.

It was $19,275 for L3410 HSD, FEL, welded on hooks on the bucket like Von's I think, and cost of 50hr maintenence with pickup. I was very satisfied with the deal.

Mike,

What size batwing mower are you getting? {model #}

I'm very impressed with the quality of this company's products. I have some pictures of some of their mowers I'll post later, including the under carriage.

I got a Befco 12' Batwing mower for a friend that keeps on enlarging his estate lawn... maybe up to 12 acres... he couldn't be happier with the quality of the cut, the equipment, work & speed accomplished, and time saved. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

John,The mower we have is a Turf Flex TX 135.It has 3-5' finish mowers hooked together. The decks are independently attached to a main frame. The decks float over the ground contour like any single mower would. The total cutting width is 162" (13' 6")there is a deck overlap to keep the mower from streaking (turning etc.)I looked at Bush Hog,Land Pride,Befco and the Rhino was, in my opinion the best of the bunch.Plus I found a dealer who had one in stock and had been "sitting on it " for a while. They made us a VERY good deal on an outright purchase. You can see these mowers at www.servis-rhino.com,products,finish mowers.

Mike,

What tractor do you plan on using to power and pull that baby...{3100 lbs.} ?

According to Rhino, they recommend a minimum 40 PTO hp unit; what was used for your demo?

I had gotten my friend into a Massey Ferguson 1165 to run the 12' Befco. The Massey is 36 PTO hp, and batwing is rated about 25 PTO hp min. {about 2500 lbs.} I believe the Befco was about $8k.

Rhino definitely makes a strong product... I'll post under implements a rotary cutter that caught my eye... cuts down up to 6" tree material... What a beast! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

John,I borrowed a L4310 from a friend to demo the mower. The tractor handled it very well (never under estimate the power of a Kubota)!!! I went ahead and bought an L4610,few more horses for a few more dollars. Our land is gently rolling with no steep hills to content with, seems like Factory recommendations for H.P. ratings on about any implement is always a little high. I'm satisfied the 4610 will handle this mower with no problems.
