OP's original post #1 he stated he was looking to get a trailer in the 17,000 to 18,000 pound (gross) range.

WRONG

re-read the post.

The truck might be RATED to pull that weight, but there is no way I could get such a trailer, and stay under 26k.

We now have a new truck, rated at 10k GVW and that leaves me with up to 16k in weight rating for a trailer. The combination will both have actual weight, and rated weight at or below 26k.

If you and duff want go go debate the CDL laws take it to another thread.

My 20+ 5 Featherlite STL gooseneck deck over is for sale. It has 7k axles and is in good working order. It is 10 years old. Tires and brakes are good , deck is fair. paint is original but OK.
I am asking $3,500

Where is the pics for this? :)

Somebody needs to debate the CDL laws because alot of people have no clue what they are.

What is the problem with a CDL? I would rather run with a CDL and have a safe trailer /truck combo than try to sneak under the radar; am I missing something?

What is the problem with a CDL?

10 weekends in a row, and $5000 for the school. The money isn't the problem its giving up 2 and a half months of weekends... IN A ROW.

Not trying to sneak under anything, I'm trying to get all of this done in a fully compliant manner.
