Hart Motors in Salem, VA, is now selling TYM tractors. Hart recently lost Saturn, prior to that Oldsmobile. They are still a GMC dealership, as well as Suzuki and Kia.

Can't imagine buying a tractor from a car dealership myself - but I suppose it could work. The thing I was pleasantly surprised about when shopping for my beast was that regardless of brand, most tractor dealers were honest, upfront, and didn't play games or add needless pressure. Maybe my experiences with car dealerships are unusual, but I've bought several vehicles and always leave feeling as if I left money on the table.

I wish them the best of luck! I love my TYM and think their still the best tractor for your buck. . . .

They are going back to the old days, In the 1950's my uncle Hank had a dealership and sold Dodge and International Harvester. I used to love my Birthday because he'd always give me one of the die cast tractors or implements he sold.

In this economy it makes financial sense for car dealers (especially those that already sell/maintain diesel trucks) to add tractors to their lots. Most probably have diesel mechanics on staff and the costs of additional training and tools wouldn't be that much of an investment risk. Also, the Tractor companies seem to be in a lot better financial shape than the car companies as of late.

BUT they will definitely have to modify their typical car sales tactics if they want to make a tractor sale because that formula won't work.

You mean -what can I do to get you into a tractor today- routine? What do I have to do for it to happen? How can we make this happen today? What are your other options- oh they are apples and oranges- buy ours.

This tractor can be yours today. Can we run a credit check. I have to speak to the GM and get right back to you. You'll need that tractor undercoated. What is your home phone.

you mean those tactics?:D

Somewhat related but after some of the auto dealer closings last year I just noticed that one of the local car dealers that stayed alive picked up Polaris to supplement sales. I am guessing UTV & ATV lines.
