A friend of mine has a plow/salt truck that has a life average of 11 mph. That is the lowest I have seen yet.

I kind of like a vehicle similar to polaris razor or yamaha rhino or such. Only thing is it is not street legal but is made strictly for off road use, probably cheaper. Wonder how the Raptor will fare...be interesting to see.

Biggest problem with something like a Polaris RZR or Yamaha Rhino is that they are not enclosed cabs and as such don't have air conditioning. The BP does use ATV's now but they don't use them as main line patrol vehicles. Any vehicle without air conditioning would not be practical for extended use over any sort of distance on the Southwest border. I do believe that a side by side would be very useful towed behind a pickup and deployed for certain operations as needed. You'd have built in backup (2 man ATV) and the ability to carry more gear, guns, etc.
