Why not have a racing team build them 10 pre-runners? Then they could chase down more people at higher speeds and when they crash into things it's just a fiberglass body to replace. Think giving G workers that kind of truck power is a little scary. They gave our state troopers new hemi chargers and one went through the front window of a house after he missed a turn chasing a guy on a motor cycle.

They should be having them built by, and using them for, racing teams. Because they obviously aren't using them to close our borders!

Why would you worry about giving a young man with government job security a vehicle he didn't pay for?:D

That's my issue. I have tremendous amounts of taxes confiscated from me for new vehicles for these people to "enjoy" while I drive a truck that will hopefully last ten years so I can get stuck with the United States version of The Peoples Car.

Like i said i am a government employee. We pay $25K or less on the trucks we drive, this is when they are purchased outright by the agency. It dosent matter the brand, chevy dodge, or ford, we just get a fullsize 4 door short bed truck w/deisel , etc and they send us who ever bid out and won the contract. When i worked on post i saw 4 new trucks to come in all we paid 20K for. My boss who purchased them told me so. These were 3 chevy 2500hd 4wds and a f350 powerstroke SRW.

Some of the low milage gov. cars and trucks can have quite a few hours on the engine. Sitting and waiting, slow speeds, all add up. Still I have enjoyed some purchases for many years. It is always a gamble unless you know the history.

My neighbor down the road works for the phone company. He has a 2000 E250 van with a 5.4L It has 160,000 miles on it. Never any major problems other than a few COP modules, ball joints and tie rod ends, tires, and brakes. The funny thing is he is on his second drivers seat and getting close to needing a 3rd.

Most days his truck runs 8 hours a day, most of it idling. All my trucks, 2 Fords and a Nissan, have hour meters on them and they also tell you the average speed. I have averaged just over 35 mph for the life of them on all three.

So lets do some math. His truck is 10 years old. He gets 4 weeks of vacation per year and works 5 days a week unless he works overtime. Keeping the math simple lets say he works 48 weeks per year, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. 48x5x8=1,920 hours per year. Now take that times the 35mph. 1,920x35=67,200 miles. Now times the 10 years he has had this truck. 10x67,200=672,000 miles.

Now I know he has not driven 1/5 of them miles but you can see how these trucks are used. Another way of looking at it is the truck has ran for 10 years at 1,920 hour per year. 10x1920=19,200 hours or 800 days of running time, nearly 2 1/4 years.

It would work very nice. Fly with a guy who used to drive them things. He would volunteer to had down there and take care of some things.
