Drill the verticals top and bottom and any enclosed area so you can spray the inside with some sort of undercoating, it does make a difference even if it's totally sealed.
You're going to mount the tarp gear while it's on the ground I hope, a lot easier to work on. Watch out for sharp corners and places the tarp may hook and put some sort of cushion/rounded corner to prevent hooking or tearing it.

Yeah I remember doing the tarp on my 4800, while on a ladder.

Sketchy, especially while drilling holes pushing sideways on a ladder, brings on a few pucker moment for sure LOL

Hoping to get to see truck progress this morning. I hope the dump was installed while I was in Florida. Next comes PTO, pump & plumbing.
We are getting closer to a finished product.

OK, stopped by on the way home. They are waiting for the PTO to ship. The hydraulic tank is on and most of the truck is back together, except chrome stack and transfer case cooler.

It's a lot of bucks for sure...but..there's always a but, it sure would look nice tho with those nice black rails LOL.
Ever think of pricing a custom made polished ss one? Some small, 1/2 " or so o/d polished tube, pretty much square with no compound curves wouldn't be too hard to make. May even be able to incorporate a bugger into it some how, even a rock screen behind it to protect the rad.
No matter what you decide, you got yourself a nice looking truck for sure.
