New version of Pat's Easy Change

Re: New version of Pat\'s Easy Change

Hi, All

Did anyone ever find out if this systems works with the Kubota B7500 Backhoe unit. I have one heck of a time getting that on and off, and am looking for a easier way to hook it up. Once the lower hitch is on the upper is easy, but getting the lower arms aligned is a real pain. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: New version of Pat\'s Easy Change

I don't own Pat's system but am seriously considering one to replace my (NOT SO) quick hitch. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

As to the spacer/spreader, couldn't you just make something like an inverted 'U' to use that would still allow you to back to PTO implements? It would be much like a quick hitch frame.

If you knotched the ends to fit over and stabilize the spread on Pat's system with the horizontal piece either adjustable for width or able to be exchanged with different ones for different widths that could be the solution. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't know if I'm doing a good job of describing what I'm visualizing here but I hope so. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Is your backhoe mounted on a sub-frame or is it mounted directly to the 3pt hitch? If it is mounted directly to the 3pt hitch then even without seeing it I can tell you that YES it should work. It will move your backhoe about 3 inches farther away from your tractor so it might make your front end feel a bit light.

Re: New version of Pat\'s Easy Change

If your talking about using a 3ph backhoe with the Pat's system, I wouldn't try it. I have Pat's EZ hitch on my Kioti, and I don't think the pressures of a BH with all the different stresses would be good. I mention this because of the powerful stresses I've noticed while using my subframe mounted BH. Pat's is hooked onto the ends of the hitch arms, and I just don't think it would take a BH very well. I sure wouldn't want to try it. John

Instead of relying on opinions of TBNers, I'd call or email Pat and ask the manufacturer. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: New version of Pat\'s Easy Change

There has been so much discussion of the angle of Pat's system to the pins on different implements one might have. One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is using Pat's with a Top n Tilt and how that might affect the angles, wear, stress, etc., or even if it could be done.

Is anyone using Pat's with their Top n Tilt? Any problems? Any potential problems? Are there limitations on how far you can angle implements using your tilt hydraulic? I'd really love some feedback from people who are using it here. Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: New version of Pat\'s Easy Change

Gary,
I only have the top link, no tilt yet. So anything I have to offer would not address any issues of angle or stress.

Re: New version of Pat\'s Easy Change

When I got my Pats system, I went to the "factory" and picked them up. The kind gentleman there showed me a set that they put to 45000 pounds of stress to try and break a weld...........it bent the "hook" instead of the weld. Now my physics is not up to par, but that is a lot of stress. Dont know if your BH is up to that much or not.

A backhoe puts extreme stress on the upper link attatchment to the tractor. Extending the distance of the lower arms might well increase the stress to this upper link. Also, the backhoe will push in very different directions on the lower arms; Pat may not have put stress on the hooks in _those_ directions. I'm thinking straight up on the latches......

Re: New version of Pat\'s Easy Change

Not an engineer in this area of expertise, but NO, they showed me the piece, it was on the HOOK and it was bent straight out as if you had it on the lower arms and pulled out from the connection point. I work on computers, will never see that much "work" on my Pats, but I was impressed. I would probably get a 23 if I needed a bh enough, but my Pats would come off the 2200 first.

I would think the catch would break before what I saw would anyway.
