New VS Old. Need help

If you did not know there are many major differences on the 6M Vs. 6R sector not just the plastic work. If you did not know AKFish was speaking about the previous series of the small 7000 Series.

What you can get on 6R and not on the 6M. There's more that's just what comes to my mind.

31MPH / 50K Transmission
Larger Cab
Larger Hydraulic Pump
Electronic SCVs / More SCVs
Front Suspension + Cab Suspension
More Lighting
Better Tire Options
Power Boost
No, Just stop.
There is not much of a difference. You can get the same tire options on both 6m and 6r tractors, The Hydraulic pump on the 6m can be upgraded to the same size as 6r from factory, 6M can also have front suspension. Ive ran both for extended periods of time and the 6R cab is not a whole lot bigger, mostly feels this way because of it only being a 4 post cab and not a 6, also the glass is curved making it feel bigger than it is. The 6Ms cab has slightly more headroom than the 6R i have found. Depends where you are in the world I suppose as US/Canada usually get cheeper spec 6000 Series, European models have the same light package as the premiums.

D Series - Economy Series
M Series - A mix between both.
R Series - Premium Series

On a 6M/R you can easily have 3 sets for the loader Up - Down , Dump - Curl, and for a grapple opening and closing.
6R on the rear I believe minimum is 2 sets and maximum is 4 sets.

If it was a tractor strictly that has to do with loader work I would pick up a 6M/R series just because its operator friendly. Having a powershift to do loader work is never a fun task.
Why is that? (No powershift)

So what are the desireable transmissions and why?

Sorry for the pain in the butt, but this is helping me a ton

6M: Powerquad, Autoquad Plus (Max Speed 40k)
6R: Powerquad, Autoquad Plus, IVT, Direct drive (Max Speed 55k)

Powershift is fine for loader work, It is just not as quick as lets say powerquad with the left hand reverser.

Bill,

Just curious about the ditch maintenance and your neighbor? Seems he wants the water from HIS fields to drain out in YOUR ditch or onto your property. Not a very clever way of making you work for him. I recommend berming up on your side of the property and maybe moving your driveway over a bit. Then call law enforcement to look at the situation and inform your neighbor that the berm is on your side and should not be tampered with.

All this could be avoided if a reasonable neighbor would agree that a ditch is needed on the property line and both parties work together to maintain it. If he's got time to trash your ditch and driveway then he has time to help out. That's a win-win situation.

Thats a good point. Problem is the road is not on my land. It is a private road that goes between his property and mine. There is not room to have a berm, 2 ditches, and a road wide enough for vehicles to pass each other. I actually offered to buy his parcel that joined the road. It would be about the same price as a new tractor and be a good long term investment. No dice.

If it's not to much trouble, could someone explain what the differences are between these transmissions is and the differences in operation are?

So powershift doesn't have LH reverser? That would suck for loader work

On a new style tractor (00 series and newer) You cant get a full power shift transmission unless you step up to the 7000 series.
Many people are confused because power quad and auto quad have four "Power shift" gears in each range, these are 4 gears that can be changed without having to clutch and there are four in each range (A, B, C, D.. etc)
Both power quad and auto quad are available with LH Reverser (standard on any machine over a 10 series) If you go for a IVT transmition in the 6R it is standard with LH reverser.
Direct drive is a mix between Autoquad and IVT, works the same as autoquad but has a scroll wheel to fine tune speeds.
If you are looking for a strong loader tractor, I would go with a power quad transmission, thats what we have in the 6110 and 6330 and have no trouble with it, Its easy to use and a basic transmission compared to IVT (which is very expensive to fix when it breaks)
Depends what other task you want to do also, I Hate IVT for ground work (ploughing, powerharrowing etc..) as I dont feel like it has as much power as a powerquad or autoquad transmission, Although for running a bailer or a mower it will walk all over a power/autoquad because you are able to slow down with the flick of a finger and change speeds easily depending on field conditions.
