I just stumbled across this website:

Johnny Products For Bolens, Simplicitys and More

They have something called the "Johnny Bucket Sr. w/ angle" front blade. It would seem to be an easy and fairly inexpensive way to add a blade directly to the bucket on my BX1500.

I see some people complain about the quality and time it takes to snow plow with a FEL (I'm actually waiting for my BX to be delivered - and wouldn't know). Would this improve things?

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Congrats on the BX! From a quick look at the "Johnny" site, it seems like you'd need the plow and their big honkin' bracket, which might be a problem with your FEL. Not to mention adding to the cost.

You might consider just a regular rear blade as an snowplow alternative - they're inexpensive ($300-$400); do a good job on snow and are pretty handy to have year round. It's a bit odd to be plowing snow in reverse, but you get used to it fairly quickly.

The Woods Estate Series seems a good match for our BX. Not that I've gotten much use from mine this winter.

I had in mind buying just the blade and the black bracket photographed on the John Deere 318 - none of the yellow bracketing. See the website under "Johnny Plow Sr." I thought it would attach easily to the bucket loader lip - just like a toothbar.

I used the FEL for the first time on Tuesday and worry that the front edge of the bucket will wear out on my gravel driveway over time - not completely, but soon won't have a square edge to it for back dragging, etc.

Anyone have pictures of a home made front blade for a small tractor like my BX1500? I've seen plenty of Curtis blades, so I know I'm not too far off the mark on this. Thanks.

Go to the Attachment forum and look under Snow Blade Restoration and see what Walt has done with an older snow plow. He has an old plow that he got at the junk yard and bolted it to a quick attach plate, very nice job and it might work for you.

Here's something I ran across that would work on any FEL bucket. I don't use a blade often enough to swap out my back blade, plus I would really hate myself if I twisted the loader somehow. Maybe I'm worried about nothing, but this seems like a great solution for ease of installation and universal fitment.

Thanks for the Hawkline tip... I've left them a message to inquire about price, as there are no local dealers.

The other thought I had was getting an ATV blade (i.e. Snowsport) that attaches with a receiver hitch - and modifying the hitch for use on the FEL.

We'll see.

I think I'll fiddle around for a few more snow storms with just the FEL before spending any more money.

Since I added a receiver hitch to the front grill guard of my BX, I've thought that I could build a blade and use it to push snow in lieu of the FEL. We don't get enough snow to mess with, so I doubt I do this project.

Attached is a pic of my grill guard, if it helps any of you with ideas to mount a front blade.

With my design, I could weld a bracket to the top of the guard and somehow (?) use that as a method to lift the blade. Maybe an electric winch????

1*Their attachments are for Garden Tractors not sub compacts or compacts.
2*The Johnny Bucket is basically a small FEL for a garden tractor.
3*I don't see how putting a smaller loader on a BX1500 would help a thing. In fact that would make things worse as the Johnny Bucket won't lift more than a few inches
