I was not expecting padding, just a pallet. I think I will ask Wildkat if they shipped it with a pallet. I was a bit tricky to get out of the truck without damaging the truck. Thanks for your input. Most important is that there was no damage (at least that I could see).
Here is the response from WildKat regarding shipping:
"We don't put them small grapple on a pallet . But sometimes the freight company will put them on a pallet after it leaves here ,but no always ."
The grapple appears to be okay. If you get one be prepared if you are going to pick it up from the freight company terminal like I did.

Based on this and other threads, I recently purchased an economy sized grapple from Wildkat. Neat piece, but it has already cost me more than its purchase price in loader repairs and grapple fixes. It came off under load and torqued the front assembly of the loader two different directions. Now, I don't know whether it came off because one of the levers was bumped by branch sticking through the back of the grapple or whether it came off because the SSQA connectivity was sloppy (which it was). Either way, it came off. Now, with a new front loader assembly, a catwalk grate welded onto the back, the levers cabled down, and, the SSQA beefed up, I am about to try this again. Expensive endeavor...

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I know this is a day late and a dollar short but I think your situation was coverd in another post some time back and showed where others welded a shim in place to fix it. I had the same thing happen to me too. My SSQA lever moves easily and the pin dosen't go into the slot very far. Fortunately it fell of about 3 feet above ground and didn't damage my hoses or tractor. I was able to hook back up pretty quick. I wrapped the lever with about 4 rounds of duct tape and haven't had any more problems but it sure doesn't have much lip to keep it from coming off/out of the slot.

WildKat need to address their fitment issues. Too many folks with these problems being reported. I'd be very leary attaching one of these grapples without Close inspection.

Very sorry to hear about your problems.

It has been reported with other grapple types too. I suspect the issue is that grapples, by the nature of the work they do, put more stress and strain from different angles onto mounts than buckets or forks or other FEL mounted implements. The "standard" for the QA mounts are not that precise (although in print they are) and as a 1/4 inch variation may make a big difference we see the grapples pop out occasionally. Not sure it is the fault of the QA adapter with too short pins or the "sloppy" tolerances on the QA attachment plate. I think it makes most sense to publicize the need for new grapple owners to double check that the mounting pins really protrude below the QA plate by a good half inch or so when locked and if not then make it so. Of course the other issue is the QA adapter pins popping up because the lever does not stay in position. Cannot blame that one on the grapple but again it is an issue that folks should watch out for. Many of us have adapted some form of bungee cord to keep downward pressure on the QA pin lever handle so it cannot happen. Only takes a few minutes with a welder or drill to create a loop/hole for a bungee or safety chain to be attached to the pin lever handle.
