Just picked up a new 2011 X534 last Thursday. I was surprised to see it came with this different seat. I know it's not open back but it appeared to be taller and more comfortable than the seat I've seen on X series machines with the open back so I didn't complain. Does anyone know if they are all going to start coming through with this change?

Don't know about the seat change but the 534 is a good model. This will be the third season coming up that I have owned mine and I don't regret buying it!

Thats good to hear JD, as you can imagine, much thought and debating went into this. I'm a little worried about the 4ws tilting the mower deck and cutting unevenly in turns. I've seen the complaint and I can visually see the deck move as I turn lock to lock. Have you had any issues like this or anything else?

The 2011 X530/534/X540 all have that new seat. The X500/X530/X534 have a new engine and a smaller fuel tank.

By how much smaller?
I was told the "new engine" is a bit of a lie and they merely bumped the horsepower rating up one to avoid new emissions regulations but I can't confirm that. I had no idea the fuel tank was smaller...I'll check my documentation when I get home but I hope it's not too much smaller.

Last years model(2010) were 5 gallons.

For 2010 the engine was a 675cc 25 hp and a 5gal tank. For 2011 4.5 gal tank and a 726cc 26hp engine that is a diff. series engine than the 2010 engine.

For 2011, you get 1 more horse power but less fuel for it:laughing:
Wow, that's a significantly bigger engine for 1 more hp, I wonder if it has much more torque. Being a different series of Kawasaki, any word whether it's better or worse in terms of quality? I hope all the air and oil filters I have on order will remain the same. 4.5 gallons is plenty, cubcadet GTs only have 2.5.

It is hard to say if its better or worse but it is a diff. series. Its a Kawi so its good. I think the change was made because of emissions regs for 2011. Most things with a motor come under new emissions laws this year even boats with a I/O engine have to use a catalytic converter this year.
